The frame is dominated by a pair of spiral galaxies. The larger galaxy to the upper left is seen nearly face-on. It has a small pale yellow core and a short bar that transitions into spiral arms that are dotted with bluish purple star clusters. More star clusters appear on the right of the galaxy, the side that faces its companion. There are a few dark dust lanes, concentrated near the inner spiral arms. The smaller spiral galaxy to the lower right has a pale yellow bar structure that is surrounded by bluish purple star clusters that only very roughly form spiral arms. On the bottom of the galaxy there is a yellow knot of stars that is brightest in its center, crossed by brown dust lanes. This may be a seperate dwarf galaxy that is either in front of the smaller spiral or is in the process of merging with it. Other distant galaxies and stars fill the black background of space.

A spiral galaxy seen at a skewed angle. Its center is a bright spot radiating light. A thick, stormy disk of material surrounds this bright center, with swirling strands of dark dust and bright spots of star formation strewn through the disk. A large spiral arm extends from the disk toward the viewer. Some foreground stars are visible atop the galaxy. Dark brown pillars rise from the bottom to the top of the image, ending in three points. The background is opaque, set off in yellow and green toward the bottom and blue and purple at the top. A handful of stars of various sizes appear. An area of deep space with thousands of galaxies in various shapes and sizes on a black background. A few gold-colored galaxies are bunched closely together in the center. A large, translucent purple cloud lies over the galaxies, thickest across the center where the gold galaxies sit, and fainter up to the right. This shows where X-rays are emitted by hot gas in the group of galaxies. A star cluster is shown inside a large nebula of many-coloured gas and dust. The material forms dark ridges and peaks of gas and dust surrounding the cluster, lit on the inner side, while layers of diffuse, translucent clouds blanket over them. Around and within the gas, a huge number of distant galaxies can be seen, some quite large, as well as a few stars nearer to us which are very large and bright.
