*deep sigh* Again, I have an English degree and have contributed rather extensively to the British economy, including writing a show that pumped £10 million into Wales. But the stupidity is the point here, of course.

Badenoch and Co see education only as a means to a massive income in some soul destroying career.

Devoid of imagination and the power of knowledge they view life entirely through the prism of the CV.

My advice always is to study what interests you and the rest will follow

Drunk electrician 😄 or looked at the plan upside down

Maybe it's a case of the door being installed the wrong way round - it should open towards the light switch?

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

I actually did a walk in the sunshine at lunchtime! I couldn't believe it 😄
Of course the clouds were back covering the sun by the time I got back home, but it felt really good.

2025-37. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Chemo, by Ileana Von Hirsch - 4/5
Funny memoir about having breast cancer, I picked it up at the library because it's one of the few that continue on to mets, so more aligned to my experience.

2025-36. The Unbroken, by @clclark.bsky.social - 5/5
I re-read book 1, now that I have the entire trilogy in my hands to read in one long go.
Still an amazing book about colonialism, compromise, faith, love (in all shades) and sad realism.
Book cover: Touraine, one of the main characters, a black woman with short hair in a vest, with stretched arms touching the sides of an arab-style arch

Today was my "stab me!" day: 5 injections 😶
(2 vaccines, 1 targeted therapy, 2 hormonal therapy)
I think I'm excused for feeling a bit crap (plus hating the strong wind noise outside...)

My excel does the same. We have to live with it, I guess 🙄

Ouch! I've just got mine too, but free - although to be honest I'd rather not qualify for free jabs...

Why is Keir Starmer obsessed with Nigel Farage?

I'm glad I still can't see it 😄

This is a lovely story!

Sometimes I wonder at so many workers only functioning on a checklist basis, not really listening or thinking by themselves... 🙄
There's some like that in my job too...

Thank you for writing it! My sister was recently diagnosed (middle aged!) and it improved the way we relate. She can't really explain, but after your book, I feel I understand her better now 🙂

Hey @clclark.bsky.social , look what I picked up today already, my pre-order! 😀
I'm still re-reading the others, though, to remind my sieve-like memory haha
C.L. Clark's new book, The Sovereign, on my sofa, with a bookmark from the independent bookshop where I got it

2025-35. Normally Weird and Weirdly Normal, by @robinince.bsky.social - 5/5
Part autobiography, part explanation of the condition - ADHD and general ASD. Lots of personal stories from many people, it helped me understand others a lot (and certain personal traits in myself).

Got home today after a week in Portugal seeing my mum. No touristy things, I didn't have time, but I did see old friends (some I've known for almost 40 years! 😮), helped my mum and gave her lots of hugs and kisses 🥰

And now I feel cold, after a week of t-shirt-only/no-coat weather, haha

2025-34. The Wheel of Osheim, by @marklawrenceauthor.bsky.social - 5/5
What a magnificent book, and trilogy! I think I enjoyed it even more now on this re-read.
Everybody just talks about new books, but there are great gems published years ago that deserve to be discovered by new readers.

😯😡 how awful!!

I got the box set of season 1 in a shop when I was living in Switzerland, 20 years ago, on a whim, and was absolutely hooked! You couldn't get it in the UK, the rest was bought on the German Amazon. I've rewatched the whole 5 seasons a few times since...
I never watched the UK original version.

It’s gone so quickly from ‘boat people’ to all immigrants. So quickly from ‘I don’t mind if they come here legally and pay taxes’ to ‘actually it’s anyone foreign’. We are living in the ‘first they came for’ poem. All to give the population a scapegoat so the super rich can hoard yet more wealth.
