Performance related pay for MPs would be much more effective: if you're shit at your job you get basic salary (London living wage, perhaps); if you're good at it you get bonuses. Criteria to be determined by voters, not MPs...

All parties bar the SNP have since devolution suffered to greater or lesser extent from being a branch office, but Sarwar is really taking it to extremes - and is getting the hiding in the polls he so richly deserves. Without a decent Labour govt in Westminster he hasn't a hope in hell.

Also standard London media not bothering to think about there being other parts of the UK. Looking at how things interact when two legal systems, not just two police forces, are involved would be useful but I suspect no-one in govt has remembered that fact...
