One of the things I took away from the 60s and Richard Nixon, first mentioned by Hunter Thompson, but I believe to be true, is the fact that we believed, at time, that all our protesting, marching and sign waving was futile and pointless when in fact, it drove Richard Nixon to alcohol fueled madness

Portland and Oregon law enforcement, at the direction of local leaders, have refused to aid ICE officers facing relentless terrorist assault and threats to life. (There are more local law enforcement officers in Oregon than there are guns and badges in the FBI nationwide). This is an organized terrorist attack on the federal government and its officers, and the deployment of troops is an absolute necessity to defend our personnel, our laws, our government, public order and the Republic itself.

Ein guter Tag, um daran zu erinnern, dass es die sozialdemokratische Ministerin Korinna Schumann war, die den Arbeitslosen mit 1.1.2026 den Nebenverdienst gestrichen hat. Das bedeutet für über 30.000 Betroffene Armut, den Wegfall der Wohnbeihilfe und drohende Obdachlosigkeit.

Ab Jänner 2026 wird es bis auf wenige Ausnahmen nicht mehr möglich sein, zum Arbeitslosengeld bzw. zur Notstandshilfe geringfügig dazu zu verdienen.

die Kosten "gegessen" - Familienbeihilfe benutzt z.B. Jetzt werden das die Vermieter:innen und Stromanbieter tun, I guess?? Kann man mit so einer Karte überhaupt eine SEPA Lastschrift aufstellen?

Und wie das ganze mit Zuverdienst funktionieren soll ist echt A Mystery.

Wild: jetzt wird die Sachkarte auch bei Ukrainer:innen im Privatquartier eingesetzt (OÖ)

Überweisungen von so einer Karte sind angeblich möglich.. "auf vorab genehmigte Konten".

Das Ding ist, es gibt nicht selten Verzögerungen bei der Auszahlung der Grundversorgung. Früher haben die UAs selbst

Oh man I have a family anecdote about that

My dad, in the 1970s, from a small town, just started uni in Kharkiv: Yep and I'm named after my uncle, who died in WW2 - Peter 🙂
My dad's new Jewish friend, who met him literally that week: Hahhahahaaha idiot, your uncle was called Pinchas.
My dad: ??no?

New law: Parents must be working or registered with the AMS. Current big question in the chats is: I've tried to register with AMS but they don't want me until my child is a bit older. (Too few daycare spots.)

The new law will be until 30.06.2026.

They want to do this again in under a year?? 🤯🤯🤯🤯

Wird die Regierung das Gesetz doch verlängern?

Yes, in the OÖ law they're officially excused from the "Bemühungspflicht", same as elderly. But unless they explicitly write it as a Bemühungspflicht in the FBH law (possible I guess?) I'm not sure it'll work. I'm genuinely curious how the fuck they'll phrase it 😅

Also only some states require AMS in GVS - I don't think Lower Austria does, unless something changed the last couple months. Vienna does, OÖ always did.

Still, I don't think they're limiting it enough for it to be worth the bureaucratic costs 😅🤷🏻‍♀️ But I guess they need to look strict.

I don't think it's quite right to say those in GVS - for example (as a woman immediately asked me), a mom with kids under 3y.o. is excluded from being in AMS. Often not even allowed to be because there's no space in kindergartens for nonworking moms. So they fall out of FBH now apparently 🤷🏻‍♀️
