It is a little stinky today because it’s trash day tho 😂

Love the over garage in an ally housing type. I’d love to live in a house that fronts an alley. No traffic.

So annoying that the Trump administration is going after “fat” people while simultaneously clawing back funding for projects that would give people a safe place to ride a bike, walk or jog.

Government agencies can save money and help protect the public by purchasing fleet vehicles thoughtfully and with safety in mind. If an F350 is really needed, that's fine, but many times it's overkill, such as collecting trash on a bike trail.

I love that Cleveland Metroparks is using these efficient Kei trucks on their trails. These have great visibility and are relatively lightweight so are also safer for any potential collisions with pedestrians and cyclists.

One thing I think would be quietly revolutionary, is if more Americans could run an errand or two by foot.

it's going to be like when we got rid of smoking in restaurants and on airplanes and within a matter of maybe a year everybody was like "we allowed WHAT?"

It's weird - but now in Oslo, there's so many EVs that you notice the noise and the smell from individual ICE cars, and you realise how much we've been normalising it for ever. You can smell them half a street away.

And inside parking lots are just *quiet*.

It's absolutely astonishing: In just about 13 years, Norway has skyrocketed from virtually no sales of zero-emission battery electric vehicles to nearly 100% of all new passenger car purchases.

People Waiting at night for the bus
Text: Week Without Driving Monday September 29 - Sunday October 5
If you can drive or afford a car, you may not understand what it’s like to rely on walking, rolling, transit and asking for rides. But for nearly a third of people living in the United States – people with disabilities, young people, seniors and people who can’t afford cars or gas – this is our every day.
We created the Week Without Driving experience so that those who have the option to drive can learn firsthand about the barriers and challenges that nondrivers face and work with nondrivers to create more accessible communities for all.

Independent watchdog group blames rise in traffic fatalities in San Francisco on huge declines in police enforcement

Ticketing down 95% since 2014. Report says staffing doesn't seem to be the issue just priorities.

S.F. was supposed to have zero traffic deaths by now. What happened?
San Francisco’s Vision Zero plan to end traffic deaths failed. A new resolution pushes for renewed enforcement, outreach, and accountability.

I have met and talked to people who have gone through this and it’s just like 🤯

We all are like “yeah I want to roll the dice on that in order to save 25 seconds on a 21 minute commute” and then are so pleased with ourselves.

People fight tooth and nail against these common sense street safety improvements in their cities 🤯. It’s like they are like fighting for the right to spend 3 months in the ICU and get a $187,00 hospital bill out of nowhere because some texting yahoo didn’t see them trying to cross the street SMDH.

I was in Toronto last weekend with my family (it was refreshingly functional!).

One of my big takeaways is that cities with subways are just totally different animals than cities without. The foot traffic! 😍

Look how fucking little the windshield is and how big and menacing the grille is 😑 it’s like they’re trying to achieve as little forward visibility and as much maiming and killing potential as possible

Honestly scary that Europe is going to start allowing American companies to import these monster trucks into their cities with little old ladies on sidewalks 😬😬😬😬😬 (as a result of tariff negotiations)

People should think of doing something social like going to a party as healthy for them as going for a run or eating a salad if not more so.

You don’t have to do it every night but this is v important to your physical and mental well being. (It’s 🤯 that you have to put it this way but here we are)

If we were actually interested in reducing the number of kids dying in car wrecks we’d be better off just not letting teenagers drive at all than banning bicycling. But of course we focus on the healthy and innocent behavior and penalize that and treat it as the problem.
schmangee.bsky.social
Imo you can draw a straight line between this type of thing and the fact that half of kids now are overweight and depressed

You would not believe the resistance you encounter today to letting a fifth grader ride his bike a mile to school 🙃
