8 years ago, a DFL politician posted a selfie of themself in our store holding a copy of one of Mark's books, and the harassment was so intense it broke our twitter account notifications. Deleted but we still get tagged and mentioned. Love being subject of pizzagate-style online conspiracy theories.

Trump is normalizing threatening elected office-holders who oppose him.
This will continue until people think it's just a dumb thing he does on social media, at which point he'll actually have them arrested / un-seated / disappeared / killed.
Easier for ppl to accept once the threats are normalized.

One thing dems should all be doing now is strongly and loudly condemning Trump's threats against Pritzker and Johnson. They're test balloons to see how close he is to being able to arrest / unseat / disappear them. And those test balloons must be immediately shot down to send the message HELL NO.

* re: nonviolence discourse: Peace policing is NOT helpful, but neither is escalating situations where people present have not consented to a level of engagement that you may be comfortable with, but they want to avoid. Make the barrier for entry into protest and resistance as low as possible.

It's a delicate balance—we're going up a big tall hill, like at the beginning of a roller coaster. The longer we delay going over the hill, the faster and wilder it is going down. But if we go over without being ready, without being strapped in and holding onto each other, it may be catastrophic.

DECENTRALIZED ORGANIZING- We need as many groups as possible doing whatever is possible, with as few large points of failure as possible. Multi-headed hydra. Massive networks for mutual aid, escape, shelter, disaster relief, medical care, food, etc. Whenever possible, ORGANIZE OFF THE INTERNET.

Time for MASSIVE, NONVIOLENT RESISTANCE. Not because nonviolence is morally superior. We need as many people as possible & don't have firepower to win anyway.* Many may be brutalized, arrested, killed EITHER WAY.
De-escalate all conflicts not with the enemy.
INCREASE PRESSURE, DECREASE TEMPERATURE.

As far as actual resistance to this fascist counter-revolution we're in the early stages of, Dem governors & mayors can't or won't do shit. That doesn't mean they have no use, but they will not rally or lead the resistance. We are the resistance, and we have to lead. They might follow.

Karl, I mostly agree with your read on where we are. But I see no value in entertaining the fantasy that dem "leaders" will step up or save us. Time/energy are better spent organizing and strategizing based on realistic read of the situation, including unwillingness or inability of dems to step up.
