Read this too, excellent book. Very eye opening and hard to stomach at times but that is the point - the reality is ugly, and by not facing and addressing its ugliness, we only forward it and allow it to grow
This was a tough read. Disturbing, deeply upsetting and scary, but so important.
At times it was pretty repetitive and not very well-structured. That made it hard to read and is the reason it took me ages to get through. Still recommend it though

The same exact men that moan about women who have had multiple sexual partners, are the ones here yelling at my page for displaying myself turning down unwanted sexual advances. It’s that we get a choice they hate.

Democratic Party has fallen to elitist propaganda and do not! Represent! The people anymore! Neither do republicans! It’s just people in power doing what the lobbyists want! Overthrow your local government ✌🏻
Fair warning: I'm a low-road democrat. This account will pursue the relentless mockery of fascists, and a willingness to urge leaders to break norms for the sake of democracy.

And cat pictures.

I’ve spent the last 18 months writing about the Roman Empire. In some ways, we’ve progressed immeasurably far in the last 1500 years. But there are still too many things about contemporary politics that I think would have felt all too familiar to them. I persist in my optimism that we can do better.

Perform your poetry!!! Write your book!!! Complete that painting!!! In the face of fascism the arts have always served as a vehicle of truth!! Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is create!!! Sometimes the biggest form of resistance we have is simply a pen and paper!!!!

It so sad to see working class Americans support the furthering of corporate power. Its crushing to see the American spirit warped into consumerist worship. Who told you the rich care about you? Why do you support those who would sooner crush you underfoot than give you a smile on your worst day?

Sometimes the combination of arrogance and ignorance is breathtaking. Yes, US health care has high admin costs; that's because it relies so much on private insurers. Govt-run health insurance has much lower overhead
