Police don’t wear masks. State troopers don’t wear masks. The National Guard doesn’t wear masks. But you know who does?

White supremacists, militia groups, insurrectionists, and ICE.

I can think of several dozen historians who would be happy to lecture @jaketapper.bsky.social about why "concentration camp" is, in fact, an apt term.
God the gall of @jaketapper.bsky.social lecturing that Minneapolis small business owner about the meaning of the word "concentration camp" while people are being crammed into poorly resourced buildings by the thousands and shuttled off never to be heard from again

Trump and his minions keep insisting that domestic terrorism is strictly a left-wing phenomenon, so of course they have found ways to depict far-right violence as a product of 'Antifa' and leftist organizing--while blurring the line between protest and terrorism.

Yes. Miller knows those people can't all be deported. He knows they will be in camps. We need to understand: many, many people in Trump's circle read about the Nazis, openly admire Hitler, and want to emulate what Hitler did. We have to accept how serious this is - we cannot hide from it.
Dear all saying no worries, Trump can't round up 10M immigrants because their work is needed for the US economy: please, remember that MOST of the camps in Germany from 1938 were "Arbeitslager" - labor camps. Deporting people is hard. But locking people up and making them work, that's been done. 1/

Chip Berlet (1949-2026)

When neo-fascists began to be followed and recorded, it was Chip that was the one who made the first moves. He gave us the blueprint that antifascist researchers go by today. Thank you, Chip, we will take it from here.

Chip Berlet was one of my primary mentors, a delightful human being, and was both insightful and dead accurate. I will miss him deeply.
Chip Berlet, who worked to take on everything from COINTELPRO to neo-Nazis, will be remembered for helping to inform, inspire, challenge and strengthen generations of anti-racist movements on the Left.

We were lucky to speak with him in 2020. itsgoingdown.org/from-souther...

The greatest success of the "constitutional sheriff" movement has been to mainstream the idea that you "can't legislate" sheriffs. Just gotta wait until that election!

Far-right extremism has permeated the ranks of law enforcement at all levels in America -- from small-town (and big-city) sheriffs to federal ICE agents. And they don't really care if you object. They think they control the levers.

I like to muse on the editors and producers who would smirk and shrug whenever I would tell them that their ability to do journalism was utterly dependent on democracy and that fascism should be seen as an existential threat.
The arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a test for every MSM member with a platform. If you are not voicing your outrage at this blatant violation of the First Amendment, you are utterly discredited as a journalist.

The ongoing assault on American democracy is fueled by and founded on right-wing projection fantasies. When they accuse ordinary Americans who haven’t tried to overthrow the government “insurrectionists,” it’s really just a confession.
