If you're THE defender of independent journalism, why ice other independents in this climate?

You've got revenue of $42m in Australia.

As I said, regarding another instance of this recently, it's a values issue when the Guardian fails to attribute/mention independent media who scooped it days ago.

You can't fail to mention Lamestream and Ette had this correspondence days ago -- then run a half-page pop-up that says this.

That’s a very kind endorse!

I’d love to read the essay, tho. I am fascinated by what the deal is with 36 months.

"mainstream media called them 'anti-immigration' rallies...even though the speakers' lists were littered with people using white supremacist talking points".

Journalists may be worse on racism today than when Pauline Hanson emerged, says @scottmitchell.bsky.social.

It would be a massive mistake for progressive folk to convince themselves the March for Australia was a bust, or can safely be ridiculed.

It was an alarming escalation of far-right action, and we need to reckon with it.

Three different governments (fed, NSW, Vic) passed laws restricting protest and speech following media pressure that alleged the protest movement was fuelling violent anti-semitism.

Now we know that link was entirely spurious, yet none of the people responsible want to acknowledge it.

Every single publicised arson attack on a synagogue has now been linked to criminal gangs and/or Iran.

You’d imagine this would be front page news, considering how the media has sought to blame pro-Palestine protestors for two years.

But it’s nowhere.

The media blamed pro-Palestine protesters for firebombings. Will they apologise?
Every major arson attack targeting a synagogue is now alleged to have been perpetrated by organised criminals, or Iran. So why were protestors blamed?

No official Hamas spokesperson ever praised Albanese.

The office, for a guy who's been in jail for two years, did. We don't even know if he is aware the office put it out.

Actual spokespeople for Hamas first rejected that statement, then a spokesperson said they weren't sure that office existed.
osmanfaruqi.bsky.social
Hamas never congratulated Albanese. This was a manufactured story published The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age that has been debunked.

But the damage is done - it’s now the basis for a diplomatic assault from Netanyahu against Albanese.

Good to see this covered by Crikey.

Been very odd to see every other media org not do an explainer or try to get to the bottom of how the biggest story in the country last week — wasn’t?

"The Israeli military has operated a special unit called the “Legitimization Cell,” tasked with gathering intelligence from Gaza that can bolster Israel’s image in the international media, according to three intelligence sources who spoke to +972 Magazine."

Israel operates a "Legitimization Cell" that seeks to frame journalists in Gaza as "Hamas operatives."

"The idea was to [allow the military to] operate without pressure, so countries like America wouldn’t stop supplying weapons," one source told @972mag.com.

In the latest, very defensive version of this ‘Hamas statement’ reporting — is the SMH saying it didn’t even know their source was in an Israeli prison before we sent them a questions?

How is that possible? It’s a 5 minute google?
