The SKW-4G was the first variant for the Shockwave SKW-2F. Earthwerks-FWL introduced it just one year after the initial production model, but its adoption was slow due to the experimental laser technology that it used. The Shockwave SKW-2F entered production at Earthwerks-FWL in the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth just a couple of years after the end of the Word of Blake Jihad. While many of the Shockwaves produced bolstered the military of the newly independent Marik-Stewart Commonwealth, it was also offered on the open market in order to bolster the regional economy as militaries across the Inner Sphere rushed to rebuild after the destruction of the previous decade.

I had a good time at Southern Assault 2025 last month. This year it had expanded from a two-day Alpha Strike tournament to a four-day mini convention with the Alpha Strike tournament, a BattleTech tournament, and more. I originally planned to play in both the Alpha Strike and BattleTech tournaments, but a conflict with work meant that I'd only be able to do the Alpha Strike tournament this year.

This weekend I'll be heading to Clemmons, North Carolina for Southern Assault 2025. I'll be playing in the Alpha Strike tournament, but due to a work trip, I won't be able to stick around for Monday's BattleTech tournament. When I first started thinking about my list for the tournament, I had an idea for a theme: MechCommander. It is one of my favorite computer game representations of BattleTech, and I played it a ton back when it came out.

Leviathans: The Great War makes use of custom dice. These dice are all dodecahedrons (twelve-sided polyhedrals), but their faces are each numbered differently. In order to tell them apart, they are color-coded. They range from a dGreen (1-4) up through a dBlack (1-12). The dice approximate a standard set of polyhedral dice, but, because 12 doesn't divide cleanly by 8 or 10, they are not exactly the same as normal polyhedral dice.

Produced on Donegal after Clan Wolf-in-Exile's retreat from Arc Royal, the Sojourner's production runs are split between the Clan and the Lyran Commonwealth. Where the other designs produced as part of that arrangement have long been staples among Clan Wolf-in-Exile forces, the Sojourner is being produced for the first time. It was designed to be rugged and dependable in a time of chaos and change.

After painting up a squad of IS Standard Battle Armor for each of my big Inner Sphere forces, I wanted to get those minis on to the table for some games. I set to work putting together some lists with those factions that included battle armor. Of those lists that I've gotten on the table so far, the Donegal Guard is the one that I've had the most fun playing, so I decided to share it here.

I got a copy of the Leviathans: The Great War Starter Box as part of my recently delivered pledge from the game's Kickstarter campaign. While I'm enjoying the game so far and overall happy with what I received, the Starter Box itself feels like a product that is trying to fill two roles and falling a little short on both.

I received my pledge for the Leviathans: The Great War Kickstarter campaign earlier this month and have been digging into it. I got a lot of stuff in my pledge. Thankfully, the miniatures are all pre-painted, so they are ready to play out-of-the-box. I've gotten a few small games in with Stef and Lexi at this point, and have been having fun learning the rules and trying out different ships.

The latest issue of Engine, the AGE roleplaying game magazine, introduced a new, stripped down version of the AGE system. The Simple Adventure Game Engine, or SAGE, is the focus of the issue with the core rules for the system plus four implementations of it filling out the double-sized issue. The AGE System Since its introduction in the Dragon Age RPG in 2010, the AGE system has been used by Green Ronin in a variety of games.

Following up on our recent completion of its second contract, we dove into the final contract option in the Mercenaries box set: Pirate Invasion. The Sojourner entered production after Clan Jade Falcon defeated the Kell Hounds and Clan Wolf-in-Exile on Arc Royal. The survivors of Clan Wolf-in-Exile relocated to Donegal and launched an effort to rebuild their forces. In addition to building as many of their existing designs as possible, the exiled Wolves also began to manufacture the Sojourner. Thanks to the partnership between Clan Wolf-in-Exile and the Lyran Commonwealth, they shared the output of the Sojourner production line.

Hot Spots: Hinterlands is set up to support multiple players with mercenary units playing against each other. I took one of these to the Atomic Empire Classic BattleTech tournament and killed a Tenshi with it! Sure, it had some help and the kill was mostly luck, but I still had lots of fun with this ’Mech. Like other powers of the Inner Sphere, ComStar tasked their scientists and engineers with replicating Clan OmniMech technology. With numerous Battle Cobras taken as salvage from the Devil's Bath on Tukayyid, they decided to try to replicate that design.
