Decided to close my BlueSky account. I can't stand all the political bitching, over & over. I open up this service & its Trump 24x7 or politics, or shitty memes about the GOP. I can filter it out, but you can't block images & my blocked tags list is several hundred words long. Thanks for ruining it.

Word of the Day is one I keep posting at the end of the year, hoping its time will come.

‘Respair’, from the 16th century, is fresh hope, and a recovery from despair.

Here’s to a few drops of respair in 2025.

I mean considering it would lead to more corrupt officials I doubt it. Even in One Piece they put bounties on the wrong people

This excellent @theguardian.com article describes how scientists have created a sponge from squid bone and cotton that removes 99.9% of microplastics from water.

Scalable and reusable, it could revolutionise microplastic cleanup.

When they talk about privatizing Veterans’ care and Medicare, they mean allowing companies to provide healthcare for a profit.

But how do companies make those profits? By *denying* care to many who need it.

Don’t get fooled by the “privatization” label. It means “for profit” and YOU are the cost.

If you as a parent do not want your child to read about something, that is your job as a parent to oversee their reading. It should absolutely not affect what children who are not yours are reading.
