We need to reevaluate and redesign the institutions that shape our liberal societies, starting from first principles. We need to start thinking again in terms of coherent systems of ideas. So that when this authoritarian tsunami has eased, we can rebuild a stronger society. power-game15.netlify.app

The political centre needs a positive vision of change. The linked text develops such a vision, using interactive tools and illustrations. Starting from first principles, it presents an argument on how to redesign key liberal democracy institutions for the digital age. power-game15.netlify.app

Trump’s worldview is stuck in the 1970s, and his whole administration is a cruel farce.

"The debate over whether to take Trump literally or seriously is over. He has now learnt how to be the tyrant he always wished to be. That took a while. ... His administration is engaged in a comprehensive assault on the American republic and the global order it created. ..."

G6 meeting should be on the cards
Today, we rebuild a global economy without America in the driver's seat. But I hope you all remember that tomorrow we must ensure Europe is in the driver seat of that economy, and not China.

Trump and Vance act as if the problem is that Ukraine is resisting an ongoing Russian invasion. The problem is the ongoing Russian invasion. If they want to use American power to stop the war, apply it to the aggressor. Abusing the victim is not going to end a war of aggression.

“I don’t want advantage” sums up the position of this administration in talks so far. And no sign at all that the Kelloggs of this world have any traction at all.
Trump: “Zelensky is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations. I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace.”

This is disgraceful. But it’s also truly awful analysis. We are supposed to believe that Russia is both an unstoppable juggernaut (it is not) and that it is so vulnerable that it is on the path to launch nuclear war. It’s garbage logic to justify a garbage deal.

France is the only Nato member that can't be pushed around by the U.S. The French never bought American weapons. They produce their own. Much of what happens in the coming months will depend on the French. So you better hope they have the courage to do the right thing.
