Two in three people lack confidence in achieving German target, optimism clearly linked to party affiliation

Can Europe cope with a free-spending Germany?

Bombshell fiscal package—currently under negotiation—represents more than just the start of deficit spending on defence. It is the beginning of a new European growth model.

"We show that uniform carbon dividends (...) receive substantially more support than a carbon dividend that favours poorer people, than earmarking revenues for climate projects and especially than using revenues for the general government budget."

The Trumpification of German politics:

FDP head Christian Lindner wants Germany's federal environmental agency (UBA) to be abolished. Apparently as part of a 'radical reduction in bureaucracy'.

What does the UBA do? Measure env'l quality, give scientific advice, help implement env'l laws.

Thanks Robert for the Naumann Foundation document. Yet another pivot by the party leader, further distancing the liberal democrats from their important role they had in German policy and institution building.

Only 3 years ago, the liberal Naumann Foundation proudly documented the FDP's lead role in kickstarting Germany's environmental policy in the late 1960s - including the creation of the UBA in 1974:
