7 yo had soccer tournament today. It was in upper 30s-40s. I took the baby with us, bundled appropriately and the side eye I got from the Texan parents who thought it was obviously too cold for a baby. Bless our hearts.

I'm reading The Best Christmas Pageant Ever to the kids and they are loving it. I had forgotten what a beautiful version of the Christmas story it was. The way the Herdman kids take in the story for the first time, thereby allowing everyone else to take it in anew as well.

My 4 yo loves "The God Book" as she calls the Bible. Today while reading the passover story she asked who were the firstborn sons? How did they die? Then she said "Well at least the daughters were ok"

Good for the parents. This is a bananas story. Anecdotally, I have yet to talk with a parent who wants more devices and screens for their students.

Saw a post about a Mom who was the uniform mom for the marching band. When I was in hs there was a kid for whom we didn't have a uniform the right size. Without a word, my Mom got their measurements and made them one. Miss you Mom.

We've been using a phinics based curriculum for reading. Last week around lesson 21 my kid jumped up and said "I'm reading and writing!" He was so happy. Today at lesson 24, he read 25 words. Brains are amazing!
