On X I had a thread of bad UK comedy open mic photography: grainy images of partially-lit men in graphic tees performing to speckled upholstery in abandoned pub function rooms.
It was toxic and I know better now. But in defiance of that personal growth I absolutely must rescue this video.

#2 Holy Invasion Of Privacy Badman, What Did I Do To Deserve This? (2007)

Possibly the top example of a great game held back by a terrible name (#2 is Project Zomboid). A dungeon management dynamic puzzle game which hinges on maintaining a functional ecosystem long enough to dispatch enemy heroes.

My Top Games (That I Played (Not Necessarily Released)) (In No Particular Order) Of The Year

#1 Valkyrie Profile (1999)

Easily my fav game I played this year. Unmatched vibes: art, music & tone. Apex action-JRPG combat system. Warning: fiddly & player-unfriendly even by ps1 standards.
The Valkyrie Profile opening cutscene depicting two characters in an overcast field of tall white flowers. There's some character dialogue of a young girl with long grey hair. Through a dialogue box we learn her name is Platina and she is saying "... Heaven ?".

An except from the Wikipedia page for Nanny. "Nanny" is a science fiction short story by American writer Philip K. Dick, first published in 1955 in Startling Stories and later in The Collected Stories of Philip K. Dick. It has since been republished several times, including in Beyond Lies the Wub in 1988. Plot summary The story takes place in the future, when every family has a mechanical robot as a Nanny. A family of four has an older model Nanny, and every night, when the family goes to sleep, the nanny and the neighbor's nanny, which is a different model, meet in the back yard and fight. The Nanny gets damaged and must be repaired, which frustrates the family, as they're advised to upgrade to a newer model. One day, the kids take the Nanny to the park, where it is attacked and destroyed by another, much larger and more powerful, Nanny. Their father, upset with this, goes and buys a brand new Nanny, the toughest model available. The kids are excited, but later, their new Nanny destroys the Nanny of another family, whose father is forced to buy another Nanny, an even bigger one.

In two weeks we'll be holding the third annual Fishmas: a competition in which people simultaneously blind-compete to catch the biggest fish in a fishing game to win a free hat.

brings me swelling anticipation to announce that the final cut of my latest show Backchannel is coming to Birmingham Comedy Festival on the 4th October at Cherry Reds.

Backchannel is an ambitious multimedia show about communication that I find difficult to justify/explain

An image I made to promote this show. It contains the title (Backchannel), the creator (me (Sean Morley)) two quotes from legitimate seeming publications. Chortle's really just for comedy industry, so that's why it's balanced out by the guardian. The Birmingham Comedy Festival logo because that feels obligatory. And then the basic show details: Saturday 4th October, Cherry Reds, Birmingham. Maybe I don't need to mention the city if I've also got the Birmingham Comedy Festival logo - but why not just be safe. The image is black, with a blown out image of me doing the show in Berlin back in July. Of the batch I got back from this show, this image of me completely blown looking a bit crazed felt really appealing to me. I think my instincts for what's interesting is completely at odds with events marketing. I also wrote some stream of consciousness, set the opacity to 20% and put that in the background. I don't recommend trying to read it.
