The Bureaucrat. It can move to any unoccupied position on the board, but cannot capture pieces.

It's just there to get in the way and slow things down.

My wife came up with one. The Horse Girl.

As long as she has line of sight to any Knight, she can move like a queen. If she does not have line of sight of if all knights are off the board, she cannot move at all. Great as a one-shot attacker, but absolutely useless by endgame.

As much as I still support the Fediverse initiative to allow us to own our own social media, it seems this BlueSky to Mastodon Exodus is smoke and mirrors. Nothing is happening on Mastodon.

BlueSky must be taking enough of Twitters cake that their trolls are trying to harm it.

When you pick an instance you should look into what it is and who owns it

For example. BlueSky is owned by the exact people that wouldn't let Elon back out of the Twitter acquisition.

FB / Threads is owned by the guy that is taking down anti Trump posts but won't take down racist posts.

Its the same as here.

BlueSky copies the infrastructure, and is set up in a way that will allow multiple instances soon.

Unfortunately Mastodon has multiple apps, a lot of them are flakey. The main app is rubbish.

You are right that most non techy people won't shop around for a good app.
