Chicago priest Father Michael Pfleger: "The state of emergency is in AMERICA, not Chicago. It's birthed from this president and his admin's reign of terror."

Urban cul-de-sacs are a cheap, immediate way to calm down side streets. Cars can reach any address, but not cut through. Foot traffic instead good for business.

During DC Week Without Driving sponsored by the Transportation Equity Network @ggwash.org, I've been commuting via bike as usual. But today, I biked to Anacostia for the first time! The ride over the bridge was beautiful!

No matter what this meeting is about, Pete will always be a National Guardsman assigned to a Civil Affairs unit who got a bunch of crusader tattoos in his 40s because he wants you to think he's a cool, war-criming operator instead of an extremely online wife-beating loser
@PeteHegseth on X: Cool story, General

QT of @general_ben on X: July 1935 German generals were called to a surprise assembly in Berlin and informed that their previous oath to the Weimar constitution was void and that they would be required to swear a personal oath to the Führer. Most generals took the new oath to keep their positions.

DDOT has said they won't start new projects pending progress on the Strategic Bikeways Plan, not even a study of Q/R St. protected bike lanes. @waba.org has pressed for that and other new projects all the same. What's on your list?

This is an *insanely* dangerous crossing - unprotected, uncontrolled, poor crosswalk visibility, across 7 lanes of high speed traffic

What will it take for @marylanddot.bsky.social and SHA to fix it, and others just like it on every dangerous state road? The status quo is just intolerable

a 2023 Nissan Murano driver (?/?)
going west in the curb lane on University Blvd W/193 at St Paul St
hit & killed a pedestrian (16/M) at the marked crosswalk.

MD SHA has blood on their hands.
An uncontrolled marked crosswalk across seven lanes of high-speed state highway, looking downhill. There are unbuffered sidewalks on both sides. There are school crossing signs at the marked crosswalk.

The District is not going to make serious progress on environmental justice or health justice without directly confronting air pollution from cars. And relying on EV transitions alone is not going to do the trick.

“Air pollution fell substantially as Paris restricted car traffic and made way for parks, people-streets and bike-lanes.”

Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability & quality of life.

Common sense.

Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same.
Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.
Air pollution fell substantially as the city restricted car traffic and made way for parks and bike lanes.

We joined Mundo Verde's bicibus this morning. It was amazing! One parent told us her count (based on donuts distributed) was 75 kids, and they had 100 for last week's Ride for Allie: www.fox5dc.com/video/1707053.

Nothing about us without us.

We're at today's House Oversight Committee hearing about DC to make it clear DC communities don't want Congress's interference in our judges, prosecutions, sentencing, or police.

They can't talk about our communities without expecting to hear from our communities.
