I realized recently, this is the first time since 2004 that there’s no actor who is officially Doctor Who (assuming you don’t count Billie Piper). I think that’s good…one of the best things for it was to go away for 16 years. Some of the best Doctor Who stories were published as books in that period

this is how you depict ping pong in a visually interesting way. this is a lot like what the lay outs of the manga look like. if comic book moves ever wanted to try to actually look more comic booky (something they haven’t really done since the underrated Ang Lee Hulk), this is a good way to do it

hot take: Ping Pong, both the manga and the anime, are far superior table tennis stories than Marty Supreme (which could’ve been about bowling or darts or anything really, the ping pong was incidental and not even shot in a very visually interesting way)

if you want an example of ping pong actually done right, check out Ping Pong the manga/anime series. it’s not exactly a fair comparison because Marty Supreme is pre-rubber table tennis and obviously live action, but Ping Pong captures gameplay feel better than anything I’ve seen.

you may not like it but this is what Odysseus’s helmet looks like…made of interlocking boar tusks, Odysseus wore one in the Iliad. and also it’s a reference to his infamous boar wound which we later see in The Odyssey.
am I crazy or would this look cool as hell in a movie?

“Rather than dwell . . . upon the many problems and negative factors that afflict the field, now is perhaps the time to play our strongest cards, those of imagination, Energy and Vision. These were, in truth, the only cards the industry was ever holding.” -Alan Moore’s ABC pitch

I think a lot about Jack Kirby and Joe Shuster creating Captain America in 1940. They were 23 and 27. Both Jews and sons of immigrants, inventing an American icon and having him punch Hitler on the cover before the US even entered the war. That was bravery…that was heart.

“Take a chance on the new comics. Look for the ones where the creator has every reason to stay and can’t be fired because he owns it, because it is his, and it is him.”

This was brutal to read, but I have to ask: why? I think it’s that our comic book heroes are old now, when once they were youthful, counterculture, rebellious. That rarely lasts forever. Even Frank Miller made an NFT. We have to be our own heroes now. No one is coming to save us.

I always thought they should use Luminus in DC, from Superman TAS. “Solar Power” is straight up one of the best episodes of that show. He just makes so much sense as a Superman villain: Supes draws his power from the sun, from light, Luminus is the master of light.
