Trump: "We brought back free speech in America. Free speech."

This is a flagrant lie. Today he told universities they would be punished if they allowed protests of or criticisms of Israel, a clear violation of the First Amendment.

No, Democrats, these little auction signs aren't it. You're acting like Wes Anderson characters who don't understand that they're in a Tarantino movie.

Democrats need to actually DO something. Yell, walk out, throw eggs at him. I don't care at this point, but "silent protest" is just another name for tacit assent.

2 minutes in and I've already lost track of how many times Trump has lied.

Approximately 20 members of Elon Musk’s staff have begun working within the Education Department. They have gained access to multiple sensitive internal systems, including a financial aid dataset containing the personal information of millions of students enrolled in the federal student aid program.

Torn between hoping there's some last minute deal to prevent the tariffs, and hoping they go through so Trump's fan base experiences FAFO they deserve.

Trying not to panic with everything going on these days, but the sheer amount of crap he is doing this early in is overwhelming. I'm sure I'm not the only one struggling to keep up.

Really just... stunned after reading the Gaiman article. I expected it would be bad, but it was so, so much worse than that. The actions of Gaiman himself, the nonaction of Palmer, the fact that he would do these things with his CHILD present...

Thoughts and prayers for my husband, please.

He left me alone at home and is about to come back to find that I decided to redecorate the house.

Unfortunately, everything is everywhere and I have lost steam and given up.

Showing my age a bit, but I just found out that they are releasing Lunar Remastered next year and I am beside myself with joy.

Lunar Silver Star Story Complete is one of the best games ever made. I still have my original copy, but no system to play it on.

Working in child welfare is wild. Some days, I really feel like I'm making a difference. The pieces are coming together, progress is made. Things are going well.

Other days, I feel like all I do is bang my head against a wall. Everything is awful. Why is this my job?

Ugh, I need a drink.

Audible says I've listened to over 150 hours of books this year.

Tbh, 99% of that was Murderbot. Over and over again.

Murderbot is my Sanctuary Moon.

I wrote about South Korea's heroic coup resistance, which is basically a recap of all the incredible BlueSky reporting from today, and how I wish I were in the position to hoist my own representative's ass over a military baricade: www.laura-bassett.com/p/south-kore...
South Koreans just squashed a fascist coup in 6 hours
We could learn a thing or two about how to resist fascism from the people who did it efficiently in the middle of the night.

My 14 year old just told me he has a group project he wants to do at our house. That's fine. The project?

They have to make a meal from the Great Depression and record themselves eating it.

Y'all I am excitedly looking up the grossest recipes I can find. This is going to be so much fun.

My sister is probably wondering why I'm so busy and haven't had time to get back to her lately.

Could be that transphobic video you posted when I have a trans child. Could be the "vaccines cause autism" garbage when you keep posting. Could be the 🍊 rapist you voted for. I guess we'll never know.

Just to be clear: the incoming Trump administration is going to war against their own Republican senate majority and the constitution's advice and consent provision so they can make a man investigated for ***sex trafficking a minor*** into the most powerful law enforcement officer in the country.
