random discourse just reminded me of this, the most vindictive condemnation of an automobile that I've ever read

since time immemorial, the first closure of #Hwy17 North heralds the official arrival of winter in Northern Ontario 😥

go to look up what gas a hazmat placard refers to, and...I can't believe how incredibly feckless this technology comes across as 🤦

I respond that it's definitely an easier trip than the "Toronto to Tirana" itinerary that's on my bucket list 😅

friend elseweb is very amused at my suggestion that Nederlandse Spoorwegen (the Dutch rail operator) should start running trains to Canada. calls it the "NL to NL" rail proposal 😆

amazing ruling

if I understand correctly...the gov't lawyers focused on arguing against the lower court's TROs...but didn't argue for a stay of its enforcement order (the consequences of the gov't violating the TROs)

the depravity of this administration is matched only by its incompetence

for some reason, it's always wild to read a story about a ship getting stuck, then to find it on one of the AIS apps and see that it does indeed say "Navigational status: Aground" 😅

Sault Ste Marie is no longer a backwater cut off from the rest of the world

if those charges get wet, or even damp, that's a good way to have a round drop short.

155mm charges are usually stored in cylindrical canisters that make them less vulnerable to this than 105mm ammunition. still, why take the risk by firing over a highway if there's no need?
October 20, 2025 at 1:05 AM
when I first heard about this, my first thought was "god damn, I sure hope those charge bags don't get damp".

155mm is separate-loading ammunition. the shell, the propellant charge (powder) bags, and the primer are all loaded separately.
