RFK Jr.’s HHS cuts could hit our region hard—cutting NIH staffing, stalling biotech innovation, hurting our local hospitals, and slashing CDC support for public health. This puts jobs, care, and lives at risk. I’m all for efficiency — but this is destruction.

This is painful, and saddening, and embarrassing. I feel like we're losing a member of the family - and for no good reason other than that some Americans wanted another season of the worst reality TV show in history.

Cried wolf about what? 15 years ago, the Republican Party was indulging the notion that the president was a secret Muslim and that lines had to be drawn between Real Americans and decadent, subversive elites. There was a wolf, there has always been a wolf, and it's eating the republic alive.
Amazing how many intelligent people read the story of the boy who cried wolf and still think that the moral is that the boy should have cried wolf more often

Setting aside the incredibly dangerous and fascist aspect of this, is there actual evidence that Khalil was a “Hamas supporter”? Or is the standard for a green-card holder being sent to a secret location and possibly deported just “critical of Israel”?

As we watch this, it's important for people NOT to understate the normal Kafkaesque US immigration system. There's a great deal of arbitrariness, and has been for decades.

This is far worse, but check what happens a lot and what does not.
While the State Department CAN revoke *visas* with very little legal process involved, stripping someone of a green card is done by DHS (not the State Department) and requires filing formal charges alleging a violation of immigration law and a removal hearing in front of an immigration judge.

Yes. If DHS can barge in, say your visa was revoked, be told you have a green card, say it's revoked too, and then disappear you so that neither your lawyer nor your family can find you, then all the guardrails are gone. There is no policy, practice, or law protecting anyone.

2. It is part of a pattern of building a personalist legal infrastructure by making sure key lawyers are loyalists who will say yes to further illegal acts.

This week’s 5-4 win for federal funding was less notable for the 5 than for the 4.

This was payment for contracts the government had agreed to where the work contracted for had been properly performed. How was that not 9-0?
