Look, I am an imperfect Amazon avoider. Sometimes I really need a specific item and can't find anyone else to ship it to rural Canada.

But let's stop shopping 'deal days'. Amazon hurt their workers all year round, but it ramps up during sales.

Amazon Prime Day ‘major cause of injuries’ for workers, Senate finds | CNN Business
Amazon’s warehouses are especially dangerous for workers during the company’s annual Prime Day event, as well as the holiday season, according to an investigation by the US Senate.

Feature for Oct 6th was Terrified (Aterrados).

I might have pitched my expectations a teeny bit high on this one, but some solid jump scares and an interesting premise. Also, lots of dodgy translation on the English captions- why?!

Now to choose tonight's flick!

Night #5 of #halloweenhorrorwatch was Cobweb. Excellently creepy atmosphere - Anthony Starr (aka Homelander) is the king of barely restrained menace. Didn't quite stick the landing, but we enjoyed the ride.

Missed a few Skeets, but we're keeping up with the daily movies! Clown in a Cornfield was #4, and a ton of fun.

You might recognize lead actor Katie Douglas from Ginny & Georgia - what a talent!

Day 3 called for some horror-comedy; we always have a few of these on the list! And Deadtectives was suitably ridiculous. It's no Deathgasm or Tucker & Dale vs Evil, but still hit the spot.

Day 2 of #halloweenhorrorwatch was The Vigil - proving Catholicism doesn't have a total monopoly on religious horror. Best watched in total darkness to maximize the creeping sense of dread...

Every year, hubs and I try to watch 31 horror movies in October. Our record is 27 (life happens) - can we make 2025 a perfect score?

First up tonight was Dangerous Animals (2025) - Aussie shenanigans, surfers and sharks!

There's still room on the list - any recs for #halloweenhorrorwatch ?

Anecdotal, but seems hoarseness and sore throat predating any other symptoms might be common with the new Stratus COVID variant. Newer ones can be less likely to show up on a rapid test. Either way, sounds rubbish, hope you feel much better soon!

It felt like the right day to repost this again.

Thank you for all of it. Fuck those absolute arseholes, and this incredibly stupid, evil moment in history.

If you want to get ahead, just ignore your own values and join in with the guys! No, shut up woman, that's definitely feminism.

Oops! Have fixed that and sent you a message.

Lovely people of #scriptsky : I have a 95 page horror feature that I could really use some notes on. Would anyone be up for a script swap?

Even if you could give my first 10 pages a read, I'd be super grateful. I can also offer other wordsy editing/proofing/copy services in return!

Was guessing Italian Barber until I saw 'quill' in the alt text - but yep, I reckon Shakespeare.

Don't be afraid to be you on the page. The barest you, the most naked, exposed, and self-deprecating. Write like your parents will never read it. That's the person readers are dying to get to know. Deep down in those depths is where you will find that elusive "voice" for your stories.

With you on this one - they're just a cute couple. And it's a horror movie, so cute couples aren't making it to the last 15 minutes...

Last time we spoke, my mother called me 'cynical'. Lovingly, with a laugh - still, it stung. She prefers not to think about the state of the world. I spare her most of my ideas. But every so often, a truth must told. I hope if people hear it, our world might change. Nothing cynical about that.

Horror: genre in which evil and chaos occur for no discernable reason, entirely unrelated to the actions of the famously innocent human race. Romanticism: dunno, guessing some sort of 19th century chick-lit.
