Also went sight-seeing in that giant land mass we've all agreed to pretend doesn't exist. Absolutely lovely! but I can't recommend visiting.

Because, you know, the genecide thing.

And the birds. Mostly the birds, if I'm going to be honest

Vanishing tech is one of the oddest problems in historical preservation... the 20th century saw a mass proliferation in means to record so much of existence from every day ordinary to the epic yet that evidence of events is vanishing for myriad reasons... which is why the Internet Archive matters.
And why is it important to preserve 78s? According to audio archivist George Blood, "To remember half of recorded history, it is important to preserve 78rpm discs."

“We end with a call to action: the field must make space for Deaf researchers to lead the conversation in sign language AI.”
I want to spotlight this remarkable cross-disciplinary collaboration between deaf & hard-of-hearing scholars & scientists on dominance of sign language AI by hearing, non-signing researchers and how their positionalities can lead to multiple systemic biases in research: arxiv.org/abs/2403.02563

There should be a female equivalent to ‘himbo.’ Because it isn’t bimbo. It’s whatever the daughter character on Beverly Hillbillies is.

Barely 45 minutes of Orion's Belt (well, two of the stars, anyway--Alnitak and Alnilam) with more of an emphasis on the stars than the nebulae. Normally I wouldn't bother to set up with moonrise 1/2 hour after dark, but now it's going to rain for four or five days. #Astronomy #Astrophotography

The penumbral lunar eclipse. It's the eclipse voted most likely to make people say, "Hey! What happened? I thought there was supposed to be an eclipse!" In other words, it's subtle. Here's the moon at 9:00 P.M., before the eclipse started, and at 12:12, at its peak. #Astronomy #Astrophotography

In other news, my therapist essentially ordered me to read Sari Solden’s Women With Attention Deficit Order after six months of us locking horns on the laziness of that proposed plot twist. I’m doing it, but let the record show that I am making a lot of faces while doing so
