Sending some love to federal employees and contractors out there who are stuck right now. This is messy (adding to the $*!t show). It creates unnecessary work and adds to the constant anxiety. And for contractors, no back pay. Hardships for citizens that you want to serve.

I especially love that there is a category for Digital public history projects - $1,000. These must be "non-commercial interpretative research project, designed primarily for non-academic audiences and presented online and freely available for the general public." Any topic within postal history.

Life continues. I’m going to a funeral, a good friend is going to a wedding. We are participating in these ceremonies that celebrate life at different stages. There is much that angers me, and still much that brings some joy.

If I was currently researching in DC-area archives, I would sign up. You may know some grad students, or someone in between jobs, who have their LC researcher cards, or are immersed in collections at one of the Smithsonian Libraries, who might be interested.
