Sorry it seemed like you were saying the map itself was incorrect. Obviously I agree with you that the system is stupid for the reason you mentioned.

Federal regulations apparently count coastlines in that 100-mile area. So e.g. Chicago is included bc of its proximity to the Great Lakes rather than to Canada. There's def room to legally pare back this allowance.

portland and chicago are actually considered within the enforcement area, but you're right, minneapolis isn't. i mean your point stands, they are still traipsing around cities they're not supposed to be in regardless, and that's a bigger issue.

right now, i believe border patrol can conduct searches within 100 miles of a boundary line. that covers a large swath of the US population. reducing that mileage allowance would be a meaningful restriction.

i feel like a sufficiently bold and savvy Dem president could get ahead of press accusations by treating a Kennedy Center revival as a symbolic capstone to the broader effort to purge trumpist elements from our gov't and restore "american pride" in our glorious cultural institutions.

this cuts to an issue with our media atomization in the US. it's been to the benefit of bad actors to bolster the podcasters and smaller, more partisan outlets bc it chips away at the stature of big news orgs, forcing them to play defense rather than set the terms of offense.

lol now we're getting somewhere. I would also accept post office cops, there's an interesting line of work.

a cop show with the pitt's deep liberal commitments and thoughtful character development might actually be interesting. unfortunately that would make it antithetical to the purpose of most cop shows.
