Speaking as someone with a degree in English and psychology, who still got suckered in a scam, your greatest defense against the siren call of neediness is not intelligence, but humility. You have to be honest about your weakness - repeatedly - or you will rationalize your way into a snake pit.

I would like to note that James Carville mainly represents the views of James Carville. His relevance to liberal discourse is less that he's popular among people left of center and more that he's been grandfathered into relevance and he says the stuff that other white men in media like to hear.
The article is called "Out With Woke". He specifically calls for sacrificing all marginalized communities upon the altar of the revered white male. Is that how desperate liberals have gotten for any sort of hollow "win"?

you can frame the European-American differences in a lot of ways but 'Europeans are poorer than Americans but also more secure' is probably the fairest one. American life is richer in many, many ways, and also far more dependent on your job *and your family* than European life.

Unstated issue here is that many men relied on having life scripts that subordinated women to their will. Men needed to be married to prove their manhood and so created systems where women were compelled to marry. Women updated their scripts but men have been slow to follow suit. So they're mad.
To my mind, I think the core of the problem is that greater - if still imperfect - gender equality allowed women access to more 'life scripts' as it were, but society mostly still presents men with just one script and that script poorly and incompletely.
So some men are fine and many are adrift.

Looking forward to people who are 4 right now talking about how we don't *really* know how Charlie Kirk was killed 60 years from now.
My first political memory - exactly 62 years ago right now, a 4-year-old boy trying to understand his mom's tears - is still the biggest event in my lifetime. We still (IMO) don't *really* know who killed JFK, but we know the public's trust was shattered. It's a straight line to today's mess

You'll note that Mamdani stood with his hands clasped and his body "tucked". A courteous, unaggressive posture. These dudes are trying to do the opposite of that to prove that Real Men Take Up Space.
