Eisner and Ignatz winning cartoonist, National Book Award finalist, 2x Indiecade winning game and experience designer. I build strange and delightful things, like fortune-telling cabinets and medieval eel marionettes. Little guy enjoyer. (they/them)
this is literally my evening activity

I got really into this detailed isometric-ish map style of illustration, and did both this piece of art for my MFA program's shirt (A Pigeon's Journey) and the @roguelike.club shirt this year! I love little guys, and I love drawing tons of tiny little guys in iso view.

this year's first bird, as per @amalelmohtar.com tradition, is a fledgling pigeon my neighbor Molly rescued from under a bridge. I will take him as a symbol of care and kindness, choosing to help small things, and to continue to wash your hands throughly to avoid all flus, human and avian.

I opened a solo show full of wooden masks and ceramic beasts alongside Leslie at Stranger Factory in Albuquerque. We've been showing here for almost a decade and it is amazing to return to a gallery that feels like home.

I made the short film Godzilla vs. Paul Bunyan, with contributions from @okaywolf.ink and @iamchubbybunny.bsky.social ! And @jayackley.bsky.social and I got our first set of film festival laurels and our first festival award at DOC LA (for Geronimo Was A Beaver).

This Communal Scream Button was installed at the corner of Silver Lake Blvd and Sunset Blvd for one day but if you pressed it, we could have screamed in unison.

My friend @leslielevings.bsky.social and I collaborated on Tea4T, a gathering of our ceramicist friends to raise money for the Trans Youth Emergency Network, and we raised over 10k and sent many perfect little guys to many homes.

I fulfilled the special edition orders of The Bird Oracle out of my own shop. I still have five wooden altars left to build but it felt amazing to bring this project to an almost-close. And it got nominated for a Best Writing Ennie!

My friend @supercoolspyclub.bsky.social and I collaborated on this big window installation for 826 LA's Time Travel Mart window in Echo Park! I loved building this big dimetrodon sculpture, although I did not enjoy moving it.

This is not specifically my art but my woodshop gatherings are an important part of my art practice.

We carved spoons and mended clothes and made block prints in the practice of making and repairing things and also of gathering in community to fix things.

(I only managed three this year. 🙃)

I'm going to start 2026 out looking back at my fave art pieces I got done in 2025. I always feel like I didn't get much done, and that is always untrue.

First, a carved wood artist book reflecting on an impending loss of eyesight and how eyes work.

some favorite details! (this is a scan of a riso print, some parts more misaligned than others, but I like it that way)

One of my favorite works this year was this illustration of a pigeon on a hero's journey, commissioned by my MFA program as this year's student/staff shirt. I later made a risograph print of the image!

Olive's Hanukkah gift this year is a scratch off reveal of drawings of our adventures, and I am posting this here because it is a great last minute gift if you are an artist.

I usually renew my National Parks Pass in December anyway, but if you buy a 2025 pass this month, it is valid until the end of December 2026 and has a significantly more attractive Roseate Spoonbill.

it is not too late to pre-order our process art book and support our film! www.kickstarter.com/projects/shi...

reading Rod Stewart's Wiki article to see what they said about his model train hobby - he calls it an "addictive" hobby (it is) and some editor followed it up with WELL WHAT ABOUT COCAINE.

All I am doing these days is building tiny sets and I couldn't be happier.

One of the things in this show is a $50 blindbox of little handmade ceramic bugs! They are all one of a kind, and there were 25 made for this show. They are available here, mailed randomly : www.circusposterus.com/store/exhibi...

These three, based on prehistoric creatures have sold, but I love them anyway. They are all ceramic with underglazes.

"a friend who keeps secrets" (the stegosaurus adjacent one)
"a friend to forage with" (dimetrodon adjacent)
"a friend that is small" (sort of ankylosaurus-ish)
