Eisner and Ignatz winning cartoonist, National Book Award finalist, 2x Indiecade winning game and experience designer. I build strange and delightful things, like fortune-telling cabinets and medieval eel marionettes. Little guy enjoyer. (they/them)
I will also be the one to point out that it is especially egregious of the NAACP to leave off the BLACK co-creator.

If interested, Out of the Northwoods by Michael Edmonds is the most accessible and clearest research book into the origins of Paul Bunyan!

but Minnesota has a great claim and also the most statues. the stories likely originated in Wisconsin though but circulated via oral tradition for decades (and loggers were often quite nomadic) before being documented.

okay, so the first recorded academic paper to explore Bunyan myths comes out of the University of Wisconsin (K Bernice Stewart), first print mention comes out of Michigan, and the popularization of the Bunyan myth comes from Laughead, who was marketing for Red River Lumber in Westwood, CA.

I got really into this detailed isometric-ish map style of illustration, and did both this piece of art for my MFA program's shirt (A Pigeon's Journey) and the @roguelike.club shirt this year! I love little guys, and I love drawing tons of tiny little guys in iso view.

It is a longer term prognosis, but yes! Hopefully I can stave it off for long enough to make it "age appropriate" bad, but I currently no longer drive at night and recently had a relapse of double vision that surgery 5yrs ago was supposed to correct.

I opened a solo show full of wooden masks and ceramic beasts alongside Leslie at Stranger Factory in Albuquerque. We've been showing here for almost a decade and it is amazing to return to a gallery that feels like home.
