No one outside the library really understands the totality of labor involved to get an item into the hands (or digital space) of a person. Cataloging is an art and and a major part of accessing said items.
...cataloguing takes human thought, esp the way I'm restructuring our system to make it more user friendly for students. Almost everything I have to fix is due to automation. I know my patrons. An algo can have all the data in the world and still can't do this process half as well as me.
