It's not every day we have a new major #ggplot2 release but it is a fitting 18 year birthday present for the package.

How much of the "long arm of childhood" works thru intergenerational stratification?

Almost all for some health outcomes like psychological distress and self-rated health, but a lot less for others like severe chronic conditions. Heart attacks and stroke are in between.

Pseudoscience or not, if most folks believe it, social construct like the association between blood types and personality can have real effects🤔perhaps someone can do a similar test on the effect of astrological sign♊️♌️ (?
I did not know this! Did you?

In Japan, some people believe that blood type influences one's personality. Specifically, some think that those with type B blood are more likely to be selfish.

This new working paper argues that this bias against people with type B blood reduces their marriage rates.

Shapefiles on IPUMS are still available🙏🏼
In the meantime, NHGIS (https://www.nhgis.org/) has much of the data you'll need, and will remain functional. NHGIS has the latest ACS data and Census data back to 1790 along with Census boundary files.
