As a short intro, here are some of my favorite mystery media:

- The Sekimeiya: Spun Glass
- Death in the House of Rain (Lin Szu-Yen)
- The Tokyo Zodiac Murders (Shimada Soji)
- Turnabout in the Lighthouse of Lunacy (Blackrune)
- Four Fiends of Nilfheim (DWaM)
I will never forgive Uchikoshi for not explaining who kicked the can

I've decided to stop being a fake Ellery Queen fan and actually read an Ellery Queen book.
I already read Roman Hat, but I'm not going to count that. Starting French Powder today.

finished S2 of Apothecary Diaries. The second half didn't have much in the way of mystery-solving, but I enjoyed the story a lot regardless. Maomao continues to be one of my favorite protagonists ever, and Shisui was a great addition to the cast.

I can't believe NYT paywalled the mini crossword. That was my favorite morning activity and a fun way to stay connected with friends/family via the leaderboard. I'm actually devastated

This is a great example of the difference between -nara and -tara (and a good thing to remember in general!)

I felt like writing a short text about Minami Asovu's "The Witch Chose to Die With X: Hyperserial Murders at the Eternity Manor" for my website, it's a really good book.

The Witch Chose to Die With X – Yesterday, We Lost Our Lives, Tomorrow We Were Born.
From page one, this book just started crazy strong. The sudden chaos, the confusion, the impactful introduction of the time mechanic, and the relation between the two main characters, all of it hit…

Finished 星降り山荘の殺人 by Kurachi Jun and I really enjoyed it. The main trick was quite good, and I appreciated the long and detailed deduction section. The gimmick of telling you what's going to happen in each chapter was also fun and didn't detract from the deduction process at all. Very satisfying!

Pet peeve: people trying to use "old English"* but putting -eth on the wrong words. I saw "Thou shalt keepeth [...]" recently at a museum of all places.
-(e)th is the precursor to -s, so "keepeth" is analogous to "keeps"

I keep
Thou keepest
He/she/it keepeth

*actually early modern English

No that's ok agoda, I'm sure that last five ten-quintillionths of a percent are vital to the calculation of my discount. I look forward to receiving my imperceptible fleck from the remnants of a penny shredded by an angle grinder in the mail.
