I'll be around and I'll post art if I think it's worth posting but god is it just depressing being in any of the places where all the things are happening all the time

Maybe it really is time for me to enter my hagraven era and just reduce my online presence in larger spaces as much as is reasonable and exist primarily out in the isolated wilderness (More niche platforms that aren't run by venture capitalists during a massive tech bubble that is gonna keep ruining everything till it finally pops which both seems like it could happen any day now but also feels like it isn't gonna happen soon enough)

Doesn't use generative AI, they specified that very heavily yes

The actual concern is if they're allowing site data to be scraped to train *other* AI which isn't the same as outright *using* generative AI on the site itself

I mean it's objectively false to claim they aren't directly affiliated when they're published by the same company and via the OCSN privacy policy they claim they may share information with the parent company and its affiliates

I do find it hilarious how they immediately backtracked after this and deleted the comment

But some people really will just refuse to actually go and read a TOS page for themselves. I've seen people in the replies of official posts made by platforms like pillowfort where pillowfort will say "We are dedicated to being NSFW friendly" and some will still reply "But are you really??"

I get why people aren't trusting, I've early birded a few platforms that started out NSFW friendly till they realized the apple app store wouldn't let them through the gates till they banned the tits and dicks and they choose to do that over supporting their users because they want the visibility

When I see someone in the comments of someone for whom art is the profession that pays their rent that they should move to a mastodon instance with 400 active users I want to throttle them through their screens for completely not at all getting how much that SUCKS for people who need to pay bills

I had a whole screed about this that I had to post as a screenshot because it was too long to fit in one post but yeah small artist communities are great and it's nice to be in one, but telling working professionals who need to make rent to turn to them is incredibly tone deaf

As much as folks might not want to believe it, artists who sell their work cannot survive exclusively on platforms that cater to primarily other artists. The Circulating The Same Five Dollars™️ model can't feed us or pay bills for long. We need places where we can be seen and discovered.

gock gang but with cool hats edition

Petra's a tinkersmith and works on the currently expanding steam train engine in the setting (alongside many other characters I've drawn before, she works with Nettle, the owlfolk lady from a previous gock gang art)

Pyxis is a herbalist fortune teller, sister of Ameline (from a previous gock gang art as well). Bookworm, or at least pretends to be, she just collects many books and "yeah i'll get to reading them. - Noémie, a human with green hair tied up into a bun, with 3 circular hair loopies. (don't question hair physics in my setting lmao). She's wearing a red mushroom-shaped hat with a lil green sprout on top (I FUCKING WANT IT IRL AAA) and regular ol' open sandals. Noémie is a travelling merchant, charming and charismatic, definitely doesn't use said charm to emotionally blackmail and trick soft customers into buying her stuff, definitely, trust me im Merchant CEO
