Life is an endless series of contextual ethics problems. Then you die.
Only question I would ask is "whyyyyyyy"

Cat is operating within normal parameters.

Yeah. By the time actual elections came around to potentially run in, the group had already fragmented and become disorganized.

The short duration of the actual period of activism meant a lot more than some members' hardcore anti-political engagement stance. Because it was mostly normies.

Occupy people were engaged in the 2016 Presidential campaign, first as the Ready for Warren effort to draft Elizabeth Warren into the primary and then when she didn't, converted to The People For Bernie Sanders instead.

But by 2012 even, Occupy was smashed into pieces and prevented from rebuilding.

Some people believed that because they were hardline anarchists, but that was never more than 10% of the group. The first Occupy candidates ran in 2012, for NY's 7th Congressional district (George Martinez) and in 2014 Governor (Zephyr Teachout, who had been an OWS Legal team member).

Remnants remained, for years in some cases, but they never got around to "we should maybe run candidates?" because the structure itself ceased to exist in the face of overwhelming force.

Why it didn't thrive as a movement once the "grab land and hold it" strategy failed is a bigger question.

I would counter with "OWS only existed for about ten weeks before it was smashed with the full force of the state," there was a multi-state networked DHS call to figure out how to evict not just the primary encampment on Wall Street but all the largest satellite encampments as well.

Felt like getting it done early rather than dragging things out to the *literal* last minute. I got worried in the middle of the month that I wouldn't be able to catch up, but my Facebook Memories kept telling me how I'd been in worse situations before so I might as well keep going.

I have Zirda as a Companion in one of my decks - companion to Kenrith, the Returned King.

I really enjoy explaining to people that the entire combo sitting right there in the command zone, I wanna do fun stuff but at a more attractive rate.

Comboing in Commander is stupid. I'd rather stay home.

2,500 words in the can today and I've just crossed 47,000 for #NaNoWriMo.

I could press on further tonight but I've hit a good stopping point, and have something sweet to come back to tomorrow.

Admittedly, this time I am once again doing something I have been thinking for months about - but the full extent of my notes was "the title" and about 600 words of flavor and description.

I have gotten as far as I have by the skin of my teeth alone, and sheer stubborn orneriness.

I am usually a plotter. I have done this previously with pretty extensive plot outlines and notes, things I've thought for months about but hadn't *quite* managed to compel myself to do yet, so #NaNoWriMo helped unstick the lid on the jar so the words could just tumble out.

Not this time.
November 29, 2025 at 1:49 AM
Another 2,000 words today - despite needing to hit a higher target - and I am at 44,000 words for #NaNoWriMo with two days left.

Eminently doable, even if I have no clue right now what I'm going to be writing about tomorrow. The perils of a pantser!

Clearly AI, those hands are way too big.

Two thousand words today and sitting comfortable at 42k, I am behind by approximately one day's writing at this point and that's great considering how many days behind I ought to be. :)

We saw that a few posts back, didn't we?

But, critically, Reagan's version of the metaphor is not the same cautionary "everyone is watching you, so don't fuck up" framing as Kennedy or even Winthrop used. It reverses the direction: "everyone is watching you because you are special, and because you are special, you cannot fuck up".

those are usually just people trying to trick buyers who don't read, because the buyer protections don't protect you if you buy something mistakenly but its description was correct.
