there hasn’t been a wig manufacturer with a very good grayish blurple that’s not too pale for characters like Garma and Roux for over a decade since the last company that made it discontinued the color 😭

happy to say that if you need a Garma wig, there is FINALLY a wig brand somewhere with the right color that doesn’t involve wig dye. It doesn’t come in the larger size yet since it’s a new color, but Assist’s color photography is dead on for more recent releases and this color is a nightmare to find

I have two extraordinarily popular costumes in the works! I could just buy them for like $40 each! But those would have the sort of fabric and construction you’d expect for $40, and I want things like “natural fiber” and “actually fits me” and “made well enough that I can reuse them multiple times”

the up side to making your own cosplay isn’t that it’s cheaper. it’s that you get to control EVERYTHING about how it turns out. Difficult proportions? Specific fabric requirements? You want it to just plain look nicer and last longer? That’s what making it yourself is for and I highly recommend it

making yourself is however the alternative to “gee why is nobody selling good versions of this obscure character from a 1987 OVA” aka “the costume does not exist to buy if you wanted to”

cosplay crafting for any popular character isn’t the alternative to a bought costume. premade mass market costumes will always be cheaper. it’s the alternative to paying for luxury bespoke work and it actually IS cheaper than that would be.

I say this as someone who both makes and buys lol
