The scrolls were pretty clear he can be killed by tricking him into learning a real cockney accent, but most scholars believe that’s impossible

Librarian 1: Hey just curious, do we know who changed all the desktops to a picture of The Bosphorus Strait?
Librarian 2: Oh that was Eric.
Librarian 1: (Warmly) Oh of course.

I think it's about values as much as anything else. Even when someone's values are basically "Fuck you, I got mine" there must be comfort in seeing someone else flying that banner.

Yeah I couldn't tell if those roads were steeper than any I've ever seen in my life, or if I'm not used to seeing roads like that through such an extremely long lens. I think maybe it's both. Amazing location scouting work there.

Another element at play: In both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul we knew major elements of the ending from the very beginning. That's not how Pluribus is. Some elements of Gilligan's storytelling feel comfortingly familiar if you've seen those shows, but in that regard we're totally off the map.

As the rules The Joined live by have come into focus Carol's gained a few reasons to hope, but the scale of her challenge is so massive, and the rules of the world still so unclear, that any new revelation might dash that hope. What would the show be then? It's amazing that we don't know that yet.

We know Carol's stated goal: she wants to set the world back how it was. But how we're "supposed' to feel about that still seems unclear. Is she heroic for keeping hope alive in the face of massive change, or is her battle such a lost cause that we'll come to see her stubbornness as tragic?

Totally, I was hoping for something like The Dirty Dozen mixed with old Sgt. Rock and Sgt. Fury comics

This is exactly how I feel about Inglourious Basterds. There are a few great scenes but so often it’s focusing on stuff that’s nowhere near what I was hoping for from a WW2 pulp story

And the body language of it. Mouth slightly agape, backing away a bit: "Hairy fishnuts."

I do think the worst effects will be temporary, but I also worry that some institutions that were crucial to establishing some consensus reality prior to photography aren’t around anymore. Having multiple thriving local papers per town willing to send reporters to any nearby event was critical

Same, when I think of a cinnamon forward apple dish I think of like homemade apple sauce, and that’s a totally different flavor than I would expect from apple pie filling.

Influence Op: So was this guy a hologram or not? What’s up with the episode where he dies?

Me: They’ve got you asking the wrong question. The real issue is why did the writers add a counselor to the main cast then immediately add a second character for people to talk about their problems with?

I don’t mind the line that much but I do think the series gives plenty of support for this reading. It does read like something Luthen would do, and it makes sense to me that Cassian both believes the sentiment and finding the process of putting these ideas into cheesy one-liners distasteful

As with other lists Solo would rank several spots higher here if they’d just cut the scenes explaining the lore of every tchotchke in the Falcon

The thing I appreciate about the BLCU is how they let their directors show their personality, none of that cookie cutter stuff

I think this comes pretty close to the ask. My guess is people want a single feed that both shows everything their friends post, in chronological order, and also mixes in a non-trivial amount of interesting posts from strangers

Oh that's interesting. Makes sense to see him mention Lynch in talking about it. It's a cliche to call a dream scene Lynchian but I do think that scene in Weapons manages to capture something of Lynch's feel without being an out-and-out homage.
