Pluribus is giving so much material for anyone who wants to write an article on the role of cars in Vince Gilligan shows.

There's a universe where Eric Adams runs multiple dubious businesses out of a public library computer lab, and the librarians all secretly love it when he comes in. He wastes their time but asks really memorable questions.
Eric Adams is an incredibly strange man

Six episodes into Pluribus and it's still unclear to me what sort of show it's going to be. I think that's astonishing. Even someone with Vince Gilligan's track record wouldn't have tried to make a show like this in the heyday of broadcast TV.

Pritzker does not like Mando, hasn’t even tried it. You wanna tell Pritzker R1 has too much fanwank? No he’ll tell you, fanwank is retconning every storm trooper into a clone of minor bounty hunter character Boba Fett. Dude died in a pitcher plant, what is cool about that?
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

Tip of the hat to the Slow Horses costume department for Shirley's windbreaker in season 5. As she's dealing with loss, hyper-vigilance, and addiction, drawing closer to Jackson's world in other words, she's suddenly got her own version of his raincoat. Beige, crumpled, more camouflage than armor

Season 5 of The Americans is such bold writing. Phillip & Elizabeth change profoundly but naturally under pressure that’s been ratcheting up for seasons. And it writes them into tense nasty corners that help season 6 become an amazing final season.

I read the whole interview and this never stops being funny. A large part of it is him describing the details of how his team designed his famous one person submarine, Deepsea Challenger, to ensure the safety of its one and only pilot, him
Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."

Sometimes it feels like the lesson older white Democrats took from the Civil Rights movement is that the important, praiseworthy thing is to be involved in deciding who gets to have civil rights, rather than making sure that everyone does.

Just got fired for sharing a clip of Robert Redford killing an old woman because it was "taken out of context" and he was "actually playing a kind and gentle personification of death itself"

The weird thing about grad school is that i’m now 1000 times more likely to see my professors as human beings and roll with that. Oh I can’t submit my assignment by email this week because the professor got phished? Sure that tracks.

Catching up on Strange New Worlds and I think Wedding Bell Blues might be the most impenetrable episode of Trek ever made. I enjoyed it, but it feels so reliant on the audience knowing a character from a single 58 year old episode, and being fully up on their Nurse Chapel lore

28 Years Later is a bit like The White Album (complimentary). We know what Boyle & Garland sound like together, but this time around they've given over whole passages to each others' sensibilities and the results are disjointed and comfortingly familiar and inspired all in one. 4/5 ⭐

I'm realizing one of my quirks as a DM is that I rarely start a story with as much intrigue as players expect. To me "Something broke and you have to fix it" is a fine adventure hook, but players often jump to "Somebody sabotaged the thing!" and then I have to decide if I'm telling a sabotage story

Still playing a lot of Death Stranding 2 but I think my initial reaction stands: I wish it was more of a Dune Messiah type sequel, a story about living in the world after having brought vast changes to it, instead of running the same narrative back on a different continent
