It's the time of year when the trees and bushes still think it's winter but the grass knows it's spring.

Skyline to the Sea trail, badly burned in 2020. These fuzzy stems were all bare after the fire. Lots are coming back. It's inspiring.

The ones that aren't growing new green are coming down in their own time.

Before the fire, on stretches like this you would barely see any sky at all.

Looking uphill in a barren pine forest with tightly packed trees that have shed most of their needles to cover the ground. Through the trees, light falls on moss covered boulders. It's an enjoyable walk but sadly not a native environment and the trees are planted as crops. Though some wildlife does manage to make a home here. Some crows live in the trees, the occasional deer wanders though as well as some hares and badgers that seem to do ok.

On a long hike last week I was happy to stop and take this. Used a 1970s Carl Zeiss Jenna 135mm. There's a look to this image that really appeals to me but I'm hard pressed to say what it is exactly.

Looking up at Djouce mountain over boggy waterlogged ground. We had a random beautiful day last week which is a rarity for October in Ireland. Walking up here the cloud burned off before I got to the top.
