Sometimes I combine various of these activities.
In today's #archery news, after last week's disappointment, this time I managed a PB of 494/600, an improvement of 4 points.
I still didn't crack 500 though, despite a half-way score of 253 - better than last week's.
End scores were 52 52 47 51 51 54 43 49 50 and 45.
Ends 7 and 10 let me down.

Brunch today - smoked haddock rarebit. Really rather nice.

I do believe we have just had a Great Spotted Woodpecker on our garden feeder

Dessert tonight - Quince Tarte Tatin, served with @lunacytowers.bsky.social's clotted cream ice cream. Glorious 😋

This was my second 54 of the round.
5 rounds of 50+, as well as a 48 and a 49, and I still didn't do it. 🤬😭

Today's hot smoked salmon - before and after cooking, and with bubble & squeak.

Yesterday's roasties, cooked in the fat of the goose that was sat above them, smoking & roasting in the barbecue.
They were incredible - crispy shells with soft creamy interiors.
We only ate 4 of them between the two of us, so plenty left for the remaining gallon of gravy.

Ours, we even decanted it.

For two people...
We ate 4 - all planned for plentiful leftovers, to dip in the remaining gallon of gravy.

This is the next result, phew.

Search your name and "glamour shot" and post a photo.
Christ...
But I don't think it counts as it comes from another Simon's post doing the same thing on The Other Place.

I bought this in France in the summer - it's not going to last...

Dinner last night included this beauty - a Reblochonade, which is a bit like a Gratin Dauphinoise but with a lump of Reblochon cheese on top which melts down through the potatoes.

We have tested the fruit jars.
L-R: Rum with citrus fruit, mainly pomelo I think. Really nice, for drinking.
2x mixed fruit in (home made) sloe gin & brandy.
Sultanas in rum.
All very ready for use over Christmas with @lunacytowers.bsky.social clotted cream ice cream and in baked pinwheel things.

I keep a rolling 6-week average score in my not-at-all-geeky archery score spreadsheet, and rather satisfyingly today's score of 472/600 took the average to <drum roll> 472.
The pic isn't of my target - one of the regulars brings various things in to shoot at...

This one always gets me, there's something almost disturbing about it.

Our neighbours, 3 doors down.
This is the *back* garden, barely visible from the street.

@nedboulting.bsky.social @cyclingalmanack.bsky.social It's here, and turning into quite the shelf-full with the blue ones and the Cav Book.
And no.24 - I must have got my order in very quickly!

A good #archery session today - a Portsmouth score of 482/600, which I think is my equal second best ever.
Key learning was slowing down a little, which paid immediate dividends.

I bought these two at the same time - 99p each from Our Price.

Beef Carbonnade tonight, with a decadently rich (Joel Robuchon-stylee) mash.
We used Mort Subite beer in it.

A rather nice Saturday night meal - onglet steak and garlic sautéed potatoes. Sauce Diane was applied afterwards.
We brought back plenty of wine from France recently, but I found that we still had a couple of bottles of Sam Neill's Two Paddocks pinot noir.
All bloody lovely.
