A counter thought. Given that this is blowing up in real time, do you expect the BBC to successfully have an emergency change of guests so fast and for, say, the PM, Foreign Secretary or Defence Secretary to drop what they’re desperately trying to fix in order to be on this show? Not gonna happen.

I think “like” is the wrong term. The film failed straight into an emotional nerve centre for my wife, son and me. The prospect of the tragedy at the film’s centre is extraordinarily painful.

I used to take this view until my wife, rightly told me in no uncertain terms never to park too close to other vehicles, and to stop being a general numpty*.

We agree on that. The Badenoch problem isn’t that she necessarily wants the wrong thing, it’s that she lacks intellectual depth and is permanently floundering. She would have been smarter to make this call alongside banning X.
