Disabled owner of at least one invisible illness. Neurodivergent. Bisexual. Chaos gremlin and sweetheart (according to other people). She / they.
I miss dancing. I miss... life. Agency. Freedom. Chronic fatigue is one of the cruellest things that can happen to a person. Wouldn't wish it on anyone (except for maybe a temporary version for disability legislators).

The internet is driving me slightly mad. Is it fiiiive golden rings, or what is in my head the OG, five goooo-old rings? I keep hearing the former and I don't know where it's coming from. I am old, no need to tell me ;)

Trying to last minute grocery shop (I've really not been well lately so earlier wasn't possible) and it is so clear to me now that every single supermarket in the UK sells exactly the same stuff in different branded packages. No variety in price or quality. M&S is selling the same stuff as Tesco.

Watched A Merry Little Ex-mas so you don't have to. An entire minor character uncritically devoted to Harry Potter, you say? And that's before we even get to the plot. Yeuch. Also Jameela Jamil murdering British place names weirdly despite being British. Very odd.

Urgh. Transphobes in my comments. Leave such a bad taste in the mouth.

To double down: trans women are not, and have never been, abusive men in disguise. The stats just don't bear it out. /1

What the actual hell? @6music.bsky.social and the BBC you have done yourself a great disservice. What little respect I had left for you is gone. Robin is brilliant, and a big part of his appeal is the diverse audience his curiosity, authenticity and humour draws in.
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

'Trans women are men and are a danger to women!' Says JKR (just so we're clear she's wrong on both counts).

Then her show invites a man who is a known danger to women and girls to visit the set.

Make it make sense.
They invited Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to the Harry Potter set THIS SEPTEMBER?!?

There are marble cake bats and the world is suddenly a little brighter.
Day 5 #BatMas: Pied butterfly bat (Glauconycteris superba) 🦇🌎🧪

This bat is very rare! It’s been captured a few of times, but after the 5th time, the species was put in the genus ‘Niumbaha’, named after the Zande word for ‘rare’. However, it is now part of the genus ‘Glauconycteris’

I just got every record of my interactions with psychiatric services in NL. This includes an interview with my mother about my childhood. I had never seen this before.

It is the most magnificent short work of fiction you will *ever* see.

I am flabbergasted by how wrong it is. Lost for words.

Wow.

I really will be sad to move from my GPs catchment area. They are excellent, even at 8.30 in the morning. I can't think of another GP I've been able to say that about in 25 years (and many GPs, I've moved around a lot).
December 4, 2025 at 9:19 AM
That thing where a fair proportion of your friends are in 'civil discourse' mode but you've moved to 'let it all burn' mode on a hot button issue.

TBF it's entirely possible other people don't have that mode at all? Maybe that's why they can't recognise or engage with it.

Am exceedingly grateful for feeling normal for 15 minutes this morning, but have spent the rest of the day lying down because my spinal fluid is leaking. *frowns at spine* stop that.
December 1, 2025 at 7:22 PM
Woke up feeling... normal?! Luckily it didn't last long. Otherwise I'd be suspicious. Now, internet, tell me what I should eat for breakfast that involves eggs, but the bread's run out? Google thinks I want low carb recipes. I do not. Just... different carbs.

Happy to see the female equivalent to the terrifying crocheted jockstraps of yesteryear.

A month and a half without muscle relaxants has unlocked a new un-skill: mashing up avocado is apparently really hard now?

2 minutes of mashing gives me the hand cramp you'd usually get after a two hour written exam.

Youtube decided to serve me 15 year old content (which I loved at the time, so it's probably my own fault). How is this STILL SO RELEVANT?! www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eBT...

Oof. Things are not going well, pain wise. I'm currently at the point where I'm taking pain meds, waiting a bit, then taking the rest. Without a muscle relaxant I feel like I'm being slowly squeezed to death by my own body.

I am dipping my freshly baked samosas in hummus. New cross-cultural delight? Or some fresh Frankenstein's monster?

We shall see.

Why does the fb logo suddenly look so faded and glitchy when you load the app on an iphone? Can't screenshot it, it happens too fast. But it looks proper odd.

All research skills seminars need to include this kind of thing. Academia has been on the back foot to the fake information machines for too long already.
