Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Instead of competing for limited resources, other humanities disciplines should accept that they are all essentially branches of literary criticism

In the older ones, I didn't like how a lot of the 'girl' cross-set armour combinations just meant you had nothing on in the waist/crotch, and not in a pretty way

Coming back to MH Rise, I still love how they stopped gender-locking armour. You now get two looks for each piece of armour, and so many fashion choices!

Not to suggest that writers need Nerd Qualifications to be able to do what they are good at doing, though! Let them cook

Dengeki Faminico Gamer surveyed ~2,900 readers about what games they'd "eternal sunshine" to forget, and enjoy like it's the first time. 🧠 We've covered 9/10 titles on this great list (but this editor does recommend 'em all!👍).

Nice! And if she played TTRPGs, she probably already understood what a game story needed in a practical sense.

I'm not an economist but seems worrying that the whole US economy is seven companies in a trenchcoat, passing the same $20 up and down

all discourse aside, there is one machine with consciousness. it's printers. they are alive and conscious and they hate you and they'd take your arm clean off if you let them. never trust a printer.

almost always ignore them.

Kids are always being *made* to look up and look around, and adults rarely are, so kids are just used to the necessity - and the airport is one of those times adults would be good to remember to do so, too.

9) People are, all things considered, pretty good.

I see twenty thousand people a day, and maybe two of them are assholes. Even on a stressful day, even in an unfamiliar environment, even hungry and tired and on a timer.

That's a *much* better ratio than folks realize.

I mean, she was clearly writing this in the context of the US wars in the aftermath of 9/11, but this way of thinking, and the popular stories that teach it, remain. People fighting to take the role of the hero, which justifies all.

To clarify her point, she isn't saying there is no good and evil, but that your goodness should be determined by your actions, not your preordained role in the drama as the Good Guy.
Assumption 3: Fantasy by definition concerns a Battle Between Good and Evil. This is the one where the cover copywriters shine. There are lots of fantasies about the Battle Between Good and Evil, the BBGE, sure. In them, you can tell the good guys from the evil guys by their white hats, or their white teeth, but not by what they do. They all behave exactly alike, with mindless and incessant violence, until the Problem of Evil is solved in a final orgy of savagery and a win for the good team.
