Hi new folks! I'm a translator, editor, and game dev! I worked on stuff like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Fire Emblem Three Hopes, Voice of Cards, Dragalia Lost, plus neat stuff like FFXIV TTRPG + Chocobo and the Airship. Now I'm at TPCi!

Also, I don't discuss localization on here!

at this rate i will not get back to ff14 until the next expansion comes out... apparently that's my cycle. play two expansions, take one off. last time it meant coming back in time for shadowbringers so historically that has worked great for me

loved this game, played it back when I was first learning JP along with Rebirth and had such an awesome time with it

I love it so much--the great stuff kinda just makes the wonky stuff melt away for me. I love all the interesting gear combos and how many of the esper/super hunt bosses require strategy beyond "big number"

i think half the reason I wanted to make my own games was to make gambits a thing again lol

there's an option in the menu to auto destroy chocobo eggs if the hilarity of this ever grows tiresome!

This is actually Shalhoub’s Nobody, Buxolhash. He was only in the DS games so a lot of people don’t even know about him.

Not necessarily the one I was looking for, but actually still quite handy, I hadn't seen it! Thank you very much!

Thank you for the help! We've got eyes on this one already, but I appreciate the assist nonetheless :)

I've scoured the VGHF's digital archive and haven't turned up anything for it, but perhaps others might remember/have some insights.

Okay, games researchers: looking for something that happened in 1991-92ish. the sound team at Sierra On-Line was interviewed, including Chris Braymen; talked in the interview about using character and leitmotif, key changes, and transition pieces. Trying to find the magazine, if anyone has clues.

loc friends: anyone in ontario?
heyitsdora.com
Bumping this! I'm still searching for localizers for the following below. If that's you, or if you know someone who it fits, please reach out! This is a paid, short term, fully remote opportunity, though you must be in Ontario due to grant restrictions.

Hey game dev! Looking for Ontario-based localization partners (either a company or individuals) for:
- French
- German
- Japanese
- Simplified Chinese
- Spanish

These do not all have to be done by the same person. Must be comfortable working with queer themes/pronouns and complex narratives! Thanks

"but it's everywhere now so we just have to accept it's the new reality" motherfucker we can just stop putting it everywhere! we did it with asbestos and CFCs and lead-based paint or petrol and make-up with arsenic in it! if everyone is using something and it's bad, we can choose to stop!

"anti-AI people should just learn more about it" motherfucker I know so much about it, that's why I'm anti-AI

Still digging Silent Hill f's story, but like SH2 remake, there is WAY too much combat, especially at the end. In f, with multiple enemies at once in a game designed for 1v1, so it becomes a bit of a hot, sloggy mess. I wish there were half as much combat so I could get back to the story.

i'm pretty sure i have just screenshotted the whole game so far

Someone already recommended it, but Legend of Grimrock (and ESPECIALLY LoG2) are absolutely fantastic. Only the first on app though, sadly.

whoa is better anyway
merriam-webster.com
Let’s talk about ‘whoa.’

First of all, ‘woah’ is not yet considered an established spelling variant of ‘whoa.’

While ‘woah’ has grown in prevalence since the late 20th century, ‘whoa’ is still about 5 times as common as ‘woah.’
