The most powerful force in American politics today is antiestablishment rage at a system that’s rigged against most people.

Democrats should ignore the carping of corporate and Wall Street Democrats and embrace Mamdani and other young progressives as the future of the party.

The upward redistribution of wealth over the past 50 years has shifted $80 trillion from the bottom 90% of Americans to the top 1%.

That’s $80 trillion that would have gone into the paychecks of the working class.

The greatest trick of all is trickle-down economics.

If you've ever used the Polity data, read this from Monty Marshall.

tl;dr Polity is coding recent US events as an executive self-coup and an adverse regime change.

If you’re always consumed by the next outrage, you can’t look closely at the last one. The impression of Trump’s power remains; the fact that he keeps stepping on rakes is missed. The projection of strength obscures the reality of weakness. Don’t believe him.

Look closely at the first two weeks of Donald Trump’s second term and you’ll see something very different than what he wants you to see.

My new piece in @theatlantic.bsky.social today reviews what they've been up to & how their bizarre political agenda stems from comic books & sci-fi.

This is the hopeful bit. For those of you flailing (understandable!!), focus on state leg and 2026 Congressional races, as well as local support for impacted populations. The Virginia state house is up in 2025. SisterDistrict.com
Out of roughly 153 million votes cast in this election, the presidency was decided by 230k across the three states of Wisconsin (30k), Michigan (80k) and Pennsylvania (120k). That's 00.15%.

This remains an extremely closely divided nation. Any agenda viewed as extreme is likely to face backlash.
