And after Columbine, the powers that be decided that anti-bullying campaigns were the answer. Not gun control.

I was born in 1964 and even though my doc didn’t think it was necessary, she checked my titers and I’m still immune. Thankfully!

Last year I asked my doctor for this and she acted like I was weird for asking. But I’m 61 now and I got that vaccine a million years ago! I wanted to make sure. Thankfully I’m still immune. My daughter got whooping cough in high school even though she was vaccinated. You never really know.

I’m very concerned about the murders as I am about every single mass shooting. But I’m also concerned that a major account posted something that was hard for me to read without alt text. I literally couldn’t read it easily. Is that ok with you, David? Is it ok that people like me ask for it?

I think the account name is In Spite of Trump

Do you think we can’t be concerned about two things at once? And how should we reply to something that’s hard for some of us to read because reading white text on a black background is harder? If I can’t read it, I can’t respond to it.

They blocked me for telling them that I don’t need assistive technology but alt text still helps me read some things. I guess they don’t believe that people like me exist and deserve a little help from alt text 🤷🏻‍♀️

We need people capable of recognizing the different between "unity" - wherein bigoted behavior gets tolerated because calling it out can be embarrassing - and solidarity, where people are able to be called in and reminded that bigotry is not part of our shared goals.

I understand that sometimes it’s hard to post alt text. So if someone asks you to do it, say sorry and move on. Why is that so hard for people? Do people never get criticized ever and have developed an allergy to it?
December 14, 2025 at 3:24 AM
I don’t use assistive technology bc I don’t generally need it. But I do use alt text bc it is often much easier for me to read the alt text than the original text. I have my account set up so I can post a photo without it because I actually care about other people.

I'm not even joking. We hardly punish any rapists at all, and the ones we do punish are punished in such a way that it actually puts their victims in MORE danger. And police actually cause more violent crime than they solve or prevent. Study after study has shown that.

So what do we do?
