Here is what I’m doing to fight back today: I am a health coach in Chicago. For my fellow Chicagoans, I will provide health coaching on a sliding scale, pay what you can basis. I’m taking my cue from @leftistlawyer.com who does the same with legal defense services in Illinois.
They locked US citizens in a restaurant, they were not free to leave - which means they were technically under arrest with ZERO probable cause that they committed a crime. Even if the restaurant was full of immigrants, this is a violation of due process. ICW/CBP is out of control.
Armed ICE agents trapped US citizens in a restaurant and demanded their papers. Federal agents walked into East African restaurants in Cedar-Riverside, MN. They closed and blocked the doors. Then they demanded to see everyone’s papers. Every person present was a US citizen.

We need people capable of recognizing the different between "unity" - wherein bigoted behavior gets tolerated because calling it out can be embarrassing - and solidarity, where people are able to be called in and reminded that bigotry is not part of our shared goals.

Each semester I go in my classroom and I try to figure out what we would use to block the doors, if it would be safe to crawl out the windows, where we could hide if there was a mass shooter in campus. It’s such an indictment of this country how we have normalized these preventable tragedies.

It fucking kills me that none of these kids is going to get the mandatory mourning, the required moments of silence, the Ezra Klein eulogies, the massive federal government policy response, of the guy who said mass shootings are just the price you pay for freedom.

I'm not even joking. We hardly punish any rapists at all, and the ones we do punish are punished in such a way that it actually puts their victims in MORE danger. And police actually cause more violent crime than they solve or prevent. Study after study has shown that.

So what do we do?

This is the most maddening thing I have seen from Dem “leadership” so far. There is SO MUCH EVIDENCE of Trump & his admin committing crimes. They are out in the open. But Jeffries is gaslighting us to believe that it would be hard to prove. Fuck these assholes.
Significant statement from Jeffries and House Democratic leaders saying they will vote “present” on the motion to table Al Green’s resolution to impeach President Trump. They say they’re “laser-focused on fighting to lower the high cost of living” plus on health care and corruption.

I have paid $206,000 since graduation.

I now owe $223,000.

I pay $830 per month, and next year it will be more.

I genuinely believe law school student loans are designed to make pro bono representation impossible.

And none of this addresses why, in the Mayor’s proposal, Chicago Police will get 56% of the budget. The cops and corporations are literally robbing us blind & our government won’t do anything about it.
NEW — With Mayor Johnson and a fraction of the Chicago City Council seemingly at an impasse, one question surrounding the budget debate is why some alders would choose implementing regressive fees on working people over taxing corporations.

Alternate Chicago budget from 26 alders leans on regressive fees. Why? • The TRiiBE

This is why the 8th Amendment is worth putting people to death over, by the way. Like maybe the people in charge of things wouldn't perpetuate such cruelty if they could be executed for it.
They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Hot take: I keep seeing people saying that the Trump administration putting Admiral Levine's deadname on her photo is "petty," and I honestly disagree. It's an act of violence. They're leveraging the power of the federal government to erase this woman's existence. That's not "petty," it's murderous.

Here’s a thought - the companies running these things will realize that many Chicago sidewalks are impassible in the winter. So either they’ll leave or they’ll actually convince the city to plow the sidewalks! After all, the city does a lot for corporations that they won’t do for people.

He suggested that peaceful protesters should be thrown off the Golden Gate Bridge

And before that, he advocated for Trump to use troops against protesters-implying they should be shot

Anyone else want to put Tom Cotton on top of a capsized boat in international waters miles away from Venezuela and see how helpless he is?
WELKER: Lawmakers say the 2 men appeared to raise their arms potentially to surrender. Why did Admiral Bradley interpret these actions as anything other than them trying to survive?
