The dismantling of Science in #Australia continues...

I remember that hopes were high in 2022 that the new Labor Government would end the decade-long decline. We are now in the second #Albanese term, and things are worse than ever.

Whether on CSIRO funding cuts, the genocide in Gaza or speaking out against the gas cartel and their extortionate practices, Ed Husic sounds like what you expect from a Federal Labor leader.

Sure let's gut out future somehow worse than the liberals while we give $800 million every 6 months for vapourware subs.
Why dont we instead give 1600 scientists and research half a million each to do whatever they want. Do it every 6 months and get infinitely more benefits than nuclear subs.
Where to start, with a statement like this?

"Tim Ayres said the cuts were aimed at refocusing … CSIRO towards research priorities, such as critical minerals, iron & steel production in Australia."

From some rando down the bus stop, one would brush it off.

But this is from our Science Minister 🤯
CSIRO to cut up to 350 research jobs in major overhaul
After 440 positions were slashed last year, the CSIRO has announced more staff cuts across the country in a bid to remain financially viable.

This is obscene.

The challenges facing the nation means we should be scaling up CSIRO, not cutting it to shreds.

While we are sending billions to the US for nuclear shipyards, our science and industrial base at home is falling apart for lack of funds and direction.

I cannot believe how far towards inhumanity we have drifted in the last 20 years since I worked at a YMCA run asylum seeker housing centre in Stockwell.
Govt minister Alex Norris is asked if the govt will take jewellery from people [fleeing war and persecution]. Norris says the govt won't be taking peoples wedding rings but they will seize assets.

Somehow the UK re-elected the fucking Tories in the last election.
“on article 8 of the ECHR in particular the right to family life ..we want to constrain in legislation the way that that is applied in immigration cases” Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood tells Sky’s Trevor Philips

Who would have imagined we would ever hear this from a Labour government

Didn't JB HiFi already get pinged for deceptive pricing?

Apparently "Clearance" doesn't necessarily mean a price reduction just that the product is end of life on the shelves and the yellow sticker denotes this.

Not that they want to get rid of the stock at a better price.
