The one-man developer of Sequence Break - The Proof of Survival... and very little else, for now at least!
Try it out (runs on Windows and Linux): http://slightly-sleepy-studios.itch.io/sequence-break
The thing about developing a game with a heavy story on your own is that unless you’ve got mental fortitude, you don’t. I’m taking a break from developing Sequence Break for the next little bit, but I’ll be back at it in the new year with the resolution to that cliffhanger!

Version 2 of the Sequence Break Proof of Concept is now available!
Hello World! It may have been all quiet on the itch.io front for a while, but that doesn't mean I haven't been chipping away at Sequence Break. If anything, I've laid the groundwork for the rest of th...

In all my time coding this game so far, it's only when I start removing the last of the default game engine graphics that it hits me that I'm actually making a game.

Of course, seeing the game and story come to life helps too, but this really drives the point home to me.

A new build of Sequence Break is finally coming soon! I don't like to drum up hype, but I have a feeling this is going to leave you wanting more... Stay tuned.

On a lighter note from before, and sad to say I don’t want to show it off just yet. Because it’ll give away a plot point in my game, but I’ve gotten a chance to try out some unique 3D rendering software and ti pair it with my 2D rotoscopes… aw yeah, this is happenin’

Today in things I learned: I'm doing my best to get by coding a game on a crapbox Windows PC, because my high-performance equipment is an M4 iPad that's sandboxed to heck. Meanwhile, I just heard from a sibling that he has a goddamn RTX 5090 and at least 80TB of DISK SPACE!!!!

With everything I hear about PC hardware getting even more expensive (and make no mistake, the fact that it’s all AI’s fault does not slip by me), I’d like to briefly remind people that in the year 2025, you no longer need the best PC to play the best games of the year. Thank you.

Do you, good sir? Do you REALLY see what’s going on?

A still from a work-in-progress version of my game - gotta remember to put in a technical blooper reel at some point!

While I'm working towards a new build of the game, here's something you might have missed in the first room due to the game's low-resolution.

"Girls like me... are sus. Yee-hee."

I certainly will still complain about the technical horrors of recording/editing and the abusive bullshit of YouTube as a platform, but it hits different when you feel like you’re choosing it rather than doing it because you have to.

Approaching videos more casually is just plain better.

Here's something I should have done a while ago - implement a sound test!

Pro Tip - if your game relies heavily on an audio soundscape, MAKE A SOUND TEST! It'll be easier than going to each trigger point manually, believe me!

If you've ever wondered why you find stuff like the Minmo sign in Silent Hill 2 or countless other sight gags in the backgrounds of older games... it's because most developers just put together whatever's on their mind at the moment for fake games or products and call it a day lol

Progress has slowed down a lot on my game, but only because I'm trying to get more important things moving along in my life.

What I will give away is this - A test render that'll act as my rotoscope base for an art style I plan to shift into later on.

Just going to put in a quick word here about the new Valve hardware that was dropped literally while I was sleeping

Controller mk.2: Maybe
Machine mk.2: YES
Frame: Huh?

You know, some days, you forget that you're working within some comically small resolution limits... YOUR GRU GANG RISE UP!

To all the animators who feel like they’ve been snubbed because the new Coke ad was all AI generated - um… I really don’t have much of a team or budget at all, so I can’t ask for help, but just know there will always be people who truly appreciate the human touch in any kind of medium, ads or not!

Oh my god some fucking tech dingdong posted this on Twitter with the caption "AI games are going to be amazing" totally seriously, you have to watch it. You have to. In full screen.

I've got a few hours left before I'm technically back, but I wanted to quickly ask: Would you guys want me to release a bug fix version of my Proof of Concept (which would remove a few secrets!) or would you want to wait until I get the next part of my game made, and everything stays as-is for now?
November 3, 2025 at 10:51 AM
Time for the most terrifying part of a pre-release workflow... bug fixes.

The PR, the announcements and even the upload of the game? Easy! Trying to find as many bugs to quash before release as possible? Not so easy.

Watch this space: I'm closing in on my next build of Sequence Break! This build will be adding two new areas to the game, turning my "Proof of Survival" into a proper Proof of Concept.

Should be out within the next few days. Stay tuned! #IndieDev #SoloDev #GameDev #AdventureGameStudio

Be careful not to replay your failures in your head like a broken record.
Once you’ve learned the lesson, move on. Don’t let one rough launch live rent-free in your mind for months.

POV: You're here, but mentally you're somewhere else.

(Unintended bug I stumbled upon during play testing after moving my dev environment - I apparently forgot to check all cutscenes with my new portrait system! This is #art, I don't care!)
