Americans always find this creepy but we have essentially recreated it with drivers licenses, but not quite well enough to reap the benefits of it being truly universal.

Print this and frame it on the wall with the title, "Why North American Transit Construction Costs are So High"

I just can't get over the differences in scale between Ballard Link's Westlake Station as proposed and the original Westlake Station, off to the left.
Ballard Link's Westlake has two separate entrances underneath separate buildings, with one showing a long tunnel to get to the train guideway. They are at least five stories deeper than the original Westlake, which is tiny and only around 10-15% of the size

I think in this case it’s likely the prosecutors just didn’t present a compelling case that there was probable cause that a felony was committed.

Just remembered this jaw-dropping graph by @oceansclimatecu.bsky.social showing the rate of change in CO2 during the previous two deglaciations of the Pleistocene (which, as a fun aside, featured ~400 feet of sea level rise) as compared with today

No free speech in the free speech zone
unraveledpress.com
A very silly situation. Cops pushing protesters and press out of the free speech zone. Apparently standing at the corner of Beach and Lexington is still fine, though.

Incidentally, in less important and kind of silly news, I think this is a first:

I think we posted essentially the same thing at the same time.

I'm also unclear whether the "under 30" is an age effect or cohort effect.

Like in 10 years will it still be "under 30" or will it be "under 40"?

*all childless people under 30, men vs women

As as soon as you drop "childless" or look at older age ranges, the wage gap is still very present.
slucy.bsky.social
Great question! I was looking at all men vs all women.

There might be a meaningful gap within married or partnered (childless) couples; not sure.

Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

(I also trust the data that says longer parental leave times for women lead to more women becoming the primary parent when it comes to childcare -- equalizing leave / incentivizing men to take it should be a priority.)

If it's all just "who is currently earning less" we should expect to start seeing men start dropping out of work in those areas.

If it's social (or even biological w.r.t. breastfeeding, etc.) then we would expect it to continue to be predominantly women dropping out.
slucy.bsky.social
How much is it because the women are earning less (so makes more sense for the couple to drop their income) vs social factors pressuring women to take the primary parenting role?

I ask because the gender wage gap for childless women under 30 is shrinking (and is negative in some areas).

Ellis getting into her concerns over plainclothes agents.

She says she's willing to give some leeway to "undercover" officers, but says other agents, including those doing crowd control at protests, need to have ID that "identifies them numerically and by agency."

Yeah I think the one thing everyone agrees on is pedal assist up to 28 is Class III.

There seems to be some disagreement about whether you can throttle up to 20 (like a Class II).
slucy.bsky.social
No you are right, it was vacated, not temporarily stayed. I was misremembering.
slucy.bsky.social
I think the normal definition of Class 3 is it can have an optional throttle to get going, but the throttle can't take it all the way to 28.
