If you go back far enough into D&D history, you'll find sexist and racist bigotry, because Gary Gygax espoused that. But the idea that it went woke recently, that's bullshit. The 80s D&D cartoon was groundbreaking in it's portrayal of racial diversity & acceptance, and that was 45 years ago.

Everyone who knew him at school remembers him being racist, because it was out of the ordinary for them, to hear someone talking like that.

Nigel doesn't remember saying racist things at school because saying racist things has always been ordinary for him. To him, it's unremarkable.
