The web site is insecure, alas. But thanks for this cool new version of one of my favorite post-punk songs. I also saw them at Hurrah. I miss that place.

Léon Spilliaert is often considered a painter but he was primarily a draftsman. While a painter typically works with brushes and paint on canvas or plaster, Spilliaert employed other techniques. He used ink, pastel, watercolor, gouache and pencil, and worked almost exclusively on paper or cardboard.
The painting is titled Trees by the Belgian Symbolist artist Léon Spilliaert.
The artwork depicts a tranquil forest scene, with several tall, slender tree trunks dominating the foreground. The trees, rendered with a meticulous, textured detail, stand on a grassy forest floor. In the middle ground, a smaller, bushy tree with bare branches is visible, framed by the larger trunks. The background consists of a hazy, light-colored sky, creating a sense of depth and a tranquil, contemplative atmosphere.

“Who is it, Charlie?”

“It’s Tim from next door. He wants us to know that our bird feeder’s empty.”
